if i may add a different perspective our (or at least, my) whole goal is to “own a desire” of a small subset of people. we dont try to cater to the whole “money niche” because that’s far more difficult at scale my focus has always been a small pinpointed audience in my own small corner of the internet and being able to monetize it many times over, rather that appeal to millions (which i’ve done on other platforms). neither model is right or wrong. we’re just taking a different approach from most creators + no it’s not paid

Thank you SO MUCH for reading! If AI ever takes over the world, this thread might put me on their naughty list... So please drop a follow @BenChanThreads if you liked this breakdown. I use this page to write in-depth breakdowns about everything that grabs my attention.

Personally, I'm optimistic. I'd like to believe in humanity. Maybe I'll look like a fool in 50 years, but only time will tell. But what do you think about AI? Do you think it's going to wipe us off the face of the earth, or improve our lives? Let me know in the comments below.

AI is just a tool. Those in power get to call the shots. If they use it for personal greed and evil, we're screwed. But if they use it for good...our future is in a far better place.

The message is clear: Artificial Intelligence is unstoppable, whether we want it or not. But it isn't some omnipotent being. Everything it knows comes from whoever taught it: Humans.

Our day to day lives are getting far better with AI. Algorithms are better at feeding us what we want. Digital assistants like ChatGPT and Grok make research 10X faster. AI girlfriends are also a thing now. But, uh, no comment on that one.

Back-breaking tasks can now be outsourced to AI at a fraction of the time and cost. But AI will not take your jobs. AI actually opens far more job opportunities - for people who manage it. A video of what the Google's CEO says about it: ↓

In 2021, researchers used machine learning to predict over 214M protein structures. From 1960s-2020: 170k proteins solved. 2021 alone: 214 MILLION solved. A 50 year problem, solved in days. This has allowed us to develop cures for many once incurable diseases, such as cancer.

AI has led to never-seen-before health breakthroughs. Neurolink, which creates a brain-to-AI connection, allows people with ALS, blindness, and spinal injury to have access to the Internet. Many people can live normal lives again... But that's not the best part:

But let's pause for a second. Artificial intelligence's unfathomably large advantage is its ability to use all the data in the world to make strategic choices. And though we only hear about the dangers this could bring, AI could also save millions of lives...

It reminds me of a quote by Einstein: "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” Will AI be a part of that?

Sam Altman, Bill Gates, and many others have signed a statement taking the risk of human extinction from AI more seriously. Elon Musk tried to pause AI development for 6 months so we could step back and think. But with every country racing to control AI... It was a lost cause.

AI & Warfare: Battles are fought based on quick decisions and information. Whoever acts on facts quicker, wins. AI, with endless information, will soon overtake us at making decisions that get the desired result. Watch the video below for an example ↓

AI & Government: Some fear that AI will enable the government to create a social scoring system. That's like having a credit score for everything. With AI, the government can have their eyes on you 24/7 - on the guise of "stopping crime before it happens."

AI & Data: Being in the Internet Age makes us more prone to data leaks. With everything stored online, anyone can use AI to steal personal information (e.g. addresses) and wreck havoc on whoever they choose. It's an invasion of personal privacy. And this is just the start...

But AI is like a genie. You get exactly what you wish for, not what you want. For example, if we told AI to stop global warming, it might calculate that the best way to do so is to kill off all humans. It gets worse...

AI used to learn through human input, similar to programming. If A happened, B was executed. Now, it observes 1000s of outcomes and determines the best solution from there. This enabled AI to learn on their own, without our help. Machine learning was born.

AI is changing the world as we speak. It's used in wars, medicine, gene editing and so much more. Still, people are scared of one thing... AI going rogue. But how does AI work, and what's all the hype about?

I'm 22. Everyone told me AI would take over the world, but I never understood it. But recently, the CEO of Fiverr said, "AI is coming for your jobs. Heck, it's coming for my job too." Elon also said, "the chances aren't zero that it goes bad." Here's what you need to know:🧵
