Jade Revell died on Christmas Day 2021. A routine blood test had shown dangerously low potassium. Nobody told her.
Her GP surgery raised concerns about a flaw in SystmOne. TPP said at the time it had fixed a bug. Now it says there was no problem at all.

The AI minister now concedes the estimated figure is less than a third of that. Researchers blame the country’s slow rate of adoption wired.com/story/uk-officials…
UK AI Minister Kanishka Narayan says AI is set to add £55B to £140B to the economy by 2030, below a £400B estimate from a Google-led report touted by officials (@bengartside / Wired)
(Visit Techmeme dot com for the link and full context!)
For WIRED I've looked at how the UK is predicting economic growth from AI, and the frustration of some legislators about the role of hype and the industry's claims in these calculations:

Crazy to be in the UK for the midterms. It's 11pm here so I won't spoil the results for you, but there are some doozies
Well deserved. Joe is an excellent reporter who has doggedly worked on silicosis for years. Also one of the nicest and most collegiate reporters in the industry.
It was a real honour to win @newsmediaorg's Making a Difference award last night for @theipaper's Killer Kitchens campaign on silicosis in stonemasons cutting engineered stone kitchen worktops. A great night in a very grand setting at the House of Commons. Thanks a lot to the NMA and to everyone who voted.

I’ve just published the third part of my investigation into TPP and SystmOne:
- Staff who raised concerns about the safety testing of the product were fired.
- A doctor who raised concerns about a death felt ‘dismissed’ by TPP
- And ‘constant’ firings of staff

"We asked a former developer whether he thought this was a dangerous way to run a healthcare technology company.
His answer: 'Yeah, of course.'"
We've previously reported on how TPP's product, SystmOne, has cropped up in several inquests. Now, we've spoken to those who worked for the firm.

You can read part one of our investigation into TPP here:
TPP is Leeds' biggest tech company, providing digital health records for thousands of GP practices and the prison estate.
So why did we find its flagship product, SystmOne, repeatedly cropping up in inquests?

25 years. Over 500 wickets for Lancashire. A Red Rose legend. ❤️🌹
Thank you, Jimmy.

Horrendous. Also no quote from Jimmy in this, which is a pretty good indication of how he’s taken the decision.
Lancashire Cricket can confirm that, following a remarkable 25-year association with the Red Rose, Sir James Anderson’s playing career with the Club will come to an end at the conclusion of his current contract.

Exc: Major outsourcers have seen 22 prison escapes in the last four years, after being awarded a combine £1.2bn contract to manage prisoner transport.
The firms can only be deducted £25,000 per escape, according to their contracts.
More in the current Private Eye.

This is a crazy story.
At its core sits a bag.
A bag of cash rubles.
And how a Kremlin payment firm takes that cash, counts it, and then smuggles its value out of the country - through Kyrgyzstan, and then onto Chinese banks.
To the tune of $14bn USD

Lindsay Hoyle complaining about Ministers briefing media/doing interviews prior to appearing in front of the House is silly in my view.
Markets react massively to policy news, and announcing outside of trading hours and getting a clear picture of what the policy is matters.
The last big, market-moving policy announcement I remember being genuinely announced in the Commons was Liz Truss' mini-budget. The substance of it didn't help, but a big part of the problems following it was reactive trading based on it.
