Five years ago, Talia Gibson and Taylah Preston were highly-touted, budding tennis stars.
Now they have become the first WA women’s duo in 30 years ranked inside the WTA’s top 100 singles players.
Not that they're resting on their laurels.

Exclusive: West Coast Eagles star Ella Roberts has declared she will not return from her torn ACL until she feels fully ready - and that might not be next season.
Remarkable maturity at 22 to be such an introspective speaker. Can't wait for her return.

Perth Glory recruit Jay O’Shea never worried his career was over when Brisbane Roar opted not to renew his contract. And the A-League's oldest player feels he has plenty to give in a young Glory midfield.

I am noticing
Tony Docherty has confirmed that Dundee United’s on-loan winger Daniel Bennie has decided to continue representing Australia for now rather an accept a Scotland U21s call-up:
“I had three or four good chats with Daniel, he’s a good lad.
“Unfortunately, there’s an U23s Olympics event that’s coming up with Australia and for the moment he has elected to stay with them because he has been involved with them for a while.”
20-year-old Bennie, whose parents are from Glasgow, was born in Hong Kong before moving to Australia with his family during childhood.

Has probably been the best defender on a team which has three clean sheets, so makes sense. Fully deserved.
Many congratulations to our very own Julia Sardo who is one of the nominees for @thepfa's Player of the Month Award for October! 👏💜
The winner will be determined via a peer-vote next week.

"There’s no reason why he can’t be the next young Aussie to go overseas."
Spoke to Josh Risdon about Tadi Kuzamba. Like the rest of us, he's a big fan.

I'm a big KP fan, but the advocates for bring back the WACA for major international men's cricket have never sat in the outer there on a 35 degree day. Yes, the WACA is a wonderful venue if you're in a media, members corporate area.
The newly renovated WACA is awesome, perfect for anything with a crowd of less than 10k.

A reminder to the football community that it was old mate’s birthday today, Laszlo Urge, perhaps better known as Les Murray.
Still missed by all who knew him.
Sorely missed in Australian football, that’s for sure.
A voice of passion, education, ambition, reason and accountability over many decades.
It was a great pleasure to spend many hours of a Sunday, and countless in between, as well as memorable World Cup journeys for Korea/Japan 2002, and in Germany 06, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 chatting all things football.
He was one of the best of his time, anywhere, and Australian football was fortunate to have him.
On his final World Cup show in 2014 in our studio on Copacabana beach where jogo bonito was born, as his eyes filled with memories, emotions and tears, I presented him with a Garrincha Botafogo shirt, his favourite player, the ‘little bird’ who played to thrill the fans and danced and swayed his way to two FIFA mundials.
Les never forgot those times, or those feelings, and wanted Australia to understand and fully embrace the beautiful game, or world game, as he called it.
The game would do very well to understand the past, those that came before, and to live up to this legacy.
RIP old mate.
UPDATE: Glory coach Adam Griffiths says the loss of Lawrence for this weekend is a blow, but has put the onus on his squad to step up to the plate.
Understand Lawrence is also carrying a knock out of Glory's win over Adelaide.
Perth Glory captain Tom Lawrence is set to miss his side’s home meeting with reigning minor premiers Newcastle Jets on Saturday after the club withdrew their appeal against his one-game suspension.
