First @BenhamPyleLab retreat is in the books! After a day of lab brainstorming we got to enjoy some much deserved relaxation… tie dye lab coats, glass painting, brunch at Lucille’s, and an afternoon at the Houston Museum of Natural Science!

We are celebrating today !!!! Congratulations to our very own Jake Chamblee for being offered an NSF graduate research fellowship!! Well deserved!!
@BCMFromtheLabs
Congratulations to Jake Chamblee for being the first Benham-Pyle Lab graduate student to pass their qualifying exam! Amazing job and lots of cool science to look forward to!

It’s #FlatwormFriday and we’ve got a new toy!!! We are taking all the pretty pictures now, including some fun shots of dividing planarian stem cells :)

It’s #FlatwormFriday and we celebrated the commissioning of our planarian aquatic environment! This multi-tiered flowing river will house our growing animal colony starting (fingers-crossed) next week! Wish the sentinel planaria good luck and good health :)
It’s the second #FlatwormFriday of 2023 and it was Liver Day! The @BenhamPyleLab processed fresh beef liver home grown in Texas to feed the planarian colony and support our future RNAi screens. 30 lbs of liver in six hours… capped off with a team pizza party :)

For the first lab meeting of the year @BlairBenhamPyle was inspired by her fellow #NewPIs to do a state of the lab talk! Biggest highlight of 2022 were the transformation of the planarian vivarium (aquatics are in!) and the lab's first RNAi/in situ screen. Can't wait for 2023!
Replying to @BlairBenhamPyle
@BlairBenhamPyle took the stage at #2022SDB to talk about her work to identify cell types and tissues required for regeneration. Lots of single cell and spatial transcriptomics :)
@BenhamPyleLab showed up at #2022swsdb and had great discussions at the first poster session! @BlairBenhamPyle will be speaking tomorrow, but come find any of us to talk about planarians, @bcmhouston, stem cells, or regeneration!
