There's nothing wrong with wanting more female characters in anime (in fact, japanese otaku love it & will buy any merch of them) but the whole argument of anime in lacking female leads often stems from the fact that people refuse to watch anime that isn't targeted at young boys.

It's so sad when Naruto fans can't even support Kishimoto's third work in Samurai 8 because all they want to see is nothing but Naruto content. Say what you want about Bleach fans but when Kubo was writing Burn the Witch, he got MASSIVE support on the project from his fans. Naruto fans are nothing short of embarrassing.
