I am actually desperate to get my hands on a LEGO Gryllus model 🦗🤩
A tad late for #InverteFest, but I submitted a set of my arthropod Lego designs to @LEGOIdeas! My set idea "Arthropod Model Organisms" features models for a fruit fly, amphipod crustacean, red flour beetle, and two-spotted cricket. Vote here: ideas.lego.com/s/p:c629ad445… 1/n

Yesterday I sent off a review for a manuscript that I had been invited to review about 24 hours previously 🥳. This is a height of academic proficiency that I'll likely never surpass 😅

#Kangaskhan, Australia’s only endemic #Pokémon, is commonly poached in its natural habitat. Here, @danlwarren et al. use species distribution modeling algorithms to predict how climate change and other human-induced pressures will impact its distribution: bit.ly/3wgYxtx

This is the second paper I've managed to publish from my PhD, and it is by far the one I'm most proud of. Really happy to see it out in print! #phdchat

1.Anthropogenic noise can have deleterious consequences to species that use acoustic signals. Animals that can’t detect, recognise or understand a signal may respond maladaptively. Does this happen when animals use acoustics in intraspecific aggressive contests? #AnimBehav2021

5.Despite our previous findings, we found no behavioural differences between noise conditions. Dominance was established using a victory song equally among the noise conditions, and males did not alter their level of aggression or change aspects of their song. #AnimBehav2021

6. Why is this song not affected by noise? It may be due to signal function (does it actually establish dominance?), multi-modal signalling (are the tactile behaviours more important?) or signal-to-noise ratio (it’s louder than the other songs). Thanks for coming! #AnimBehav2021
