ALT I was part of the 2022 cohort of the Transfer Pre-engineering Program (T-PREP) and it has shaped my UC Berkeley experience. I made long-lasting friendships and found a community of students I can relate to on campus. It also helped me transition into four-year university and made me aware of the vast opportunities for engineering students. We got to design a prototype during the program and my group made a device called PineWatch, an early wildfire detection system. ALT A headshot of Phillip Messersmith is laid over a gray background with a quote from Messersmith that reads: "The greatest rewards are watching my former group members become successful in their chosen careers, and seeing other people recognize your research results and utilize those in their own research." Below Messersmith's headshot it says, "Read the interview at qb3.berkeley.edu."
