After several weeks of tough hunting I FINALLY got it done today in Illinois on a public land buck. Feeling thankful & blessed for sure. Now back over to MO for the weekend see what happens there!
First “official” sit in the new XOP Vanish hang on with X2 sticks yesterday. I still gotta get faster on the set up & tear down but I think it’s gonna be a good mobile set up. Bought the upgraded straps & some Amsteel daisy chains which are way lighter than the cam straps. New muddy pack fits on there perfect.
Was all I could do to lay off of him. I’m after a buck in here & didn’t wanna cut hunt short , so he lives another day. If he comes by again tonight different story.
Well, let the hostilities begin today! 😆Best of luck to everyone heading out to the woods this weekend, I’ll catch you from a tree somewhere. As always be safe!
Predators are out and about. This coyote looks like he’s got a bad front leg but he’s still out hunting tonight. Bobcats live a long time, I’ve been trying to trap this one for last two years, he’s smart.
I knew we had a real problem with these critters digging up our lawn but couldn’t believe a TRIPLE last night!! Many thanks to @thatntac for his recent tip on the traps, made all the difference in the world. Big boar was aggressive, tried to bite the .22 barrel ! Their digging days are over.
So didn’t know much about these ropes when I saw @BubeckLawrence selling them & decided to give them a try. I made a mock scrape off a trail few days ago & bucks & does are very interested in it. This is just one example of a young buck last night on it, thanks Lawrence! BTW, this is 💯 unsolicited!
Good morning all, giving this food plot a few hours sit, see what happens. Gonna be a beautiful, crisp fall day here today, FINALLY 🍁 🦌. Best of luck to everyone out there today!
Scoring some points with the wife this morning before me and a buddy take off for some bow hunting. She loves my deer chili, house smells amazing.
Good morning all, I have 4 of these to clean out today & get them ready for the season so gotta get busy! Gonna be almost 90 here today 🥵, big front coming tonight , highs in 60s next few days. Wheat/clover coming in nicely, should see some deer this weekend.
Pretty encouraging when you go to check on a stand location for the first time this season and find a nice big, fresh scrape literally 15 yards from it. Yeah, I pissed in it. 😆
OK folks, here’s my first time up a tree with the new XOP Vanish & X2 sticks. This was mainly a trial run & practice but I’m impressed with the simplicity, light weight & how well stand & sticks bite the tree. I wasn’t fast but I’ll work on that. The HSS lineman’s rope pairs well with my Muddy harness. Going mobile for rut will be awesome I think.
First sit of the season on the east side of the river. Got a couple inches of much needed rain yesterday & it’s cooled off nicely in the 50s this morning. Best of luck to everyone out there today, enjoy & be safe! 🏹 🦌
I’m making a commitment to get more mobile this season, especially on the vast amount of public land near me. Just got this in, XOP Vanish with X2 sticks lightweight mobile hang on system, 20 lbs total. Gonna get familiar with it this weekend. Anyone here use one?
First sit of the season was rather uneventful. Upper 80s here today so that sucked, should be nice in the morning though. Saw a few deer in the distance. My views were gorgeous nonetheless, especially catching the last of the sunset walking out.
So good to get reacquainted with you guys, boy did I miss you, IYKYK ! First sits of the season for me tomorrow & Wednesday on the MO side of the river. 🦌 🏹
My little girl turned 15 this weekend. I’m not quite sure how this happened as it truly seems like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. Enjoy every moment you have with them guys and remember, don’t blink.
Well I thought I had them properly thinned out but apparently not as more damage was done last night. Duke dog proofs coming back out tonight, it’s personal now. 😡 🦝
I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time and today it finally happened. Ripping across these cornfields in a combine was literally one of the most bad ass things I’ve ever done & definitely gets you in touch with where your food comes from.
It was a very hot & dusty one today but we got er done, about 4 acres of plots with wheat & clover. Just finished cleaning everything up & enjoying a cold one! Good rain chances Mon & Tue, fingers crossed 🤞
