Skill issue to need it tbh. A non-linear model of the engine can be produced from test data and use many sources of pressure and temperature to produce redundant and precise estimates on mass flow, anchored on acceptance tests. Our engine has like 6 independent flow estimates.
There are only two types of people:
those who have downloaded the entirety of the NASA Technical Reports Server and are working their way through the entire public Western knowledge base
and those who haven’t and aren’t

No company yet has decided to market themselves as boutique (one/few-off) satellite manufacturing with launch integrated tho. Lots of constellations, but not traditional sats. Closest is Rocket Lab. There's definitely a market for this.
I’ve said for 10+ years: at scale, every launch company becomes a satellite company, and every satellite company becomes a launch company. Either way, they end up as telecommunications companies. Launch companies will always realize it’s 10x more profitable to launch their own stuff, satellite companies will discover it’s impossible to rely on launch companies because their realization is inevitable. The only way to survive in this business is to vertically integrate from the jump.
The difference between who is successful and who is not is how early companies realize this reality. Very hard to graft on later, almost impossible. My free advice is to do it right from the start, and vertically integrate your space missions business like we’re doing at @Nord_Space. Yes it’s hard, yes it’s painful, but it’s a lot more so later on.

Northstar is a good, no great, name but I’m almost offended that all the engines are just numbers now. It even looks amazing
Our new booster engine, Northstar, was built from the ground up by a scrappy team focused on weight, cost, manufacturability, and performance. More than 65% of the engine is additively manufactured using our in-house 3D printing capability. Northstar can be assembled in less than a day and produces 715,000 pounds of thrust.
