In publishing we have so far to go. So far. We can’t kid ourselves that as nice, liberal people we are immune from needing to do the work. Our industry is riddled with racism. We have to educate ourselves and then show up. Every. Single. Day. #BlackLivesMatter
The events in Minnesota and beyond have, once again, highlighted the structural racism and inequality in our society.
We know that publishing is no exception to this.
We stand with our Black colleagues, authors, readers, booksellers, librarians, reviewers.

Today we held meeting 5 of the maternity commission to discuss the 5 emerging themes.
Recent CQC report stated that births of babies to black mothers are almost twice as likely to be investigated for failings.

Bigger, brighter, better office space in Steel City for @HachetteUK . We now have 120 staff across Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh, Newcastle & Sheffield. 40% have been recruited locally & in Sheffield that's over 50%.
You don't need to live in London to work in publishing.
Sheffield-based Hachette UK staff have relocated to a bigger office space in the city, a move the publisher says paves the way for a “major” expansion of the team.
