Agreed for DMPs as well and for the SDRP if it does materialise. DRO debt level at £30k is very fair.
Replying to @BevBud
DMPs as well? Your first tweet said formal debt solutions. But increasing numbers of free sector clients had negative income even before the energy bill nightmare. So the DRO changes are needed anyway.
An easier fix is to get Ofgem to issue directive to utility providers that arrears of Utilities can be included in IVAs and other debt solutions and no Prepayment meters.
Replying to @BevBud
So we reform DROs so they work for all low/ negative DIs. Debt level is easily changed. 50k or unlimited? As can the value of a car. 5k, 10k or more? That leaves need to exclude main residence. A harder ask, but why not? creditors gain nothing from endless token payments.

We really need to be able to include arrears of utilities in formal debt solutions without fear that the energy provider will insist on pre-paid meters which materially increases the cost of energy for consumers. Welcome your comment.
new post - Ofgem doesn't want people to cancel their energy DDs, but it has no useful alternatives to suggest for millions of people debtcamel.co.uk/ofgem-cancel…

Not sure about £30,000 - a reasonable salary for an experienced advisor with say 4 to 5 years experience would be £26,000 to £28,000.

So horrendous - debt should not be a priority payment ranking ahead of food!!!
Ah another enquiry from a young mother requesting a food bank voucher while her Child Benefit is being paid direct to a Credit Union for a loan. Wear your hat the wrong way round as the song goes. Quite unbelievable really

Be good if you could distinguish between the “IVA Companies” and FCA regulated debt counselling s who provide advice on all options.
Replying to @Jamie_D_T
It’s never just been the IVA Companies passing them on, far from it actually. It does happen tho but there seems to be a general trend where clients have heard about DROs in general

Well done Bernie - there is hope for USA and humanity
Mr. President: You attack “socialized medicine” every single day. Well, let's be clear. The excellent care you received at Walter Reed was at a 100% government-funded, government run hospital. For Trump, "socialized medicine" is bad for everyone but himself. Total hypocrisy!
This is what failed leadership looks like
Other countries responded quickly and aggressively to combat the spread of coronavirus. Trump failed to do the same—and now the U.S. has the most cases in the world.

Very bad news for the debt advice sector. Might be a good time to start a commercial firm! Trouble is you can’t make any real money without mis-selling.
