As someone who thought about this issue daily, when a Cabinet Office SpAd working on the UK-EU relationship, this is really insightful from @SteveAkehurst Looking at public opinion on the future of the relationship and stress testing it with possible campaign messaging.
NEW: How robust is opinion change on Brexit/Brexit @Persuasion_UK research properly stress tested it. We find a fair bit of softness. We think headline Rejoin support is more like 52 v 48% (!) rather than ~64-36% you see in polls. Not fatal but worth paying attention to🧵

Yet another super insightful piece of research from @Persuasion_UK Cutting through lots of the noise at the moment to concentrate on what voters actually think. That’s why @SteveAkehurst is influential and always worth reading.
NEW: After the Gorton by-election, how should we understand the threat to Labour's left? Big new @Persuasion_UK report out with @38degrees on 'progressive defectors' - Lab 2024 switchers to Greens, Plaid, SNP, Lib Dems. Who are they, who are they not & what's moving them? 🧵

I want people growing up in my constituency of Torfaen-and every part of the country-to feel they have the same chance as anyone else of making the laws of the land. The presence of hereditary peers in our legislature is indefensible-so I’m proud to bring this Bill forward.
A Bill to remove Hereditary Peers has received its Second Reading in @HouseofCommons. Introduced by Minister for the Constitution @NickTorfaen the Bill is the first step in delivering the Government’s manifesto commitment to update the UK’s constitution.

Today the Government sets out details of the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme. We have made significant changes to the scheme, listening to the voices of victims, following Sir Robert Francis KC’s report. I pay tribute to all those who have fought so hard on this campaign.
Cabinet Office Minister @NickTorfaen gives an update on the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme on behalf of the UK Government. Read more about the update here: gov.uk/government/collection…

What a story! He comes from the same generation of miners as my grandfathers. The risks they took to feed their families and power the country is incredible. Yet those communities also produced such leaders in sport, politics, culture and so much else - inspirational

Our movement, from the birth of trade unions, through 100 years of Labour in Wales, has not only dared to dream, but delivered. The NHS, the minimum wage, rights at work. We did those things.

I was lucky to know Bob through work and through his family, who he adored. He’s lived an incredible life of public service - and through it all was generous, wise and decent. What a fantastic legacy, leaving the county and the lives of those close to him hugely enriched.
My brother Bob (Lord Robert Kerslake) died yesterday after a short battle with cancer. We are all devastated.

Spent today with my little boy picking daisies in the park and showing them off. This picture is utterly heartbreaking…
A heart-breaking moment saved in an SS picture of deportations of Hungarian Jews at Auschwitz II-Birkenau. It was taken 79 years ago, most likely in late May 1944. A little child found a dandelion in the grass and is handing it or showing it to an older boy. All the people in this picture were waiting to be killed in gas chamber. They were murdered some time later. Please RT this unique document.
