As we mark the 30th anniversary of the genocide at Srebrenica I’m reminded of the first-hand accounts we heard when visiting last year with @BeyondSreb.

On Friday #SrebrenicaMemorialDay marks 30 years since the atrocities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Earlier this year, Victims Minister Siobhian Brown visited Srebrenica with @beyondsreb and paid tribute to the victims and survivors.

Yesterday, I was walking with my children past the Retirement Home in Nedžarići when my four-year-old son asked me:
“Dad, why is this building destroyed?”
“It was burned and bombed during the war,” I replied.
“Did the bad guys burn it?”
“Yes, son, the bad guys burned it.”
