As the monsoon retreats and the migration season starts, Delhi-NCR sees some uncommon birds some of which are passage migrants that spend only a couple days here. This is a compilation thread of this year's specials entries. Pic credit mentioned. #IndiAves #birdwatching #NCRBirds

This is a Red-tailed Shrike, an uncommon visitor to Delhi’s outskirts. A keen birder wld quickly spot the difference betwn this nd the Isabelline, a regular visitor here. I cld easily hv mistaken it for an Isabelline and walked away, missing out on a lifer! Birds with IndiAves

Spotted this juvenile Common Cuckoo at Sultanpur NP the other day. Most of the adults have already migrated south, leaving a few juveniles behind to grow strong enough for the journey ahead. (Birds with IndiAves)

Age is just a number. At this point, somewhere near 15km mark, I was almost out of gas. But look at the energy level of 11065. All those(almost 70% in my age category) who finished before me deserve an applaud. I am not even talking about a full marathon or an ultra

A very common bird that I usually ignore but here the morning light was creating some magic making it bit extra ordinary and I couldnt resist myself. (Birds with IndiAves)

Amidst all the mostly brown birds, this little barbet always brings a smile with its bright colours, fidgety behaviour, and, most importantly, its patience in giving me enough time to click. A tiny, happy bomb of colours and energy! Coppersmith babrbet. (Birds with IndiAves)

The Shikra & Jacobin Cuckoo found this beautiful perch to dry their feathers. The morning sun shining brightly on the babool tree, the fragrance of its flowers, a lake in the background filled with waders. For a moment, it felt like time had stopped for me. (Birds witg IndiAves)

The Orange-headed Thrush, a winter migrant that travels to central & southern India, stopping by the Delhi-NCR region along the way. Spotted a couple at Sultanpur NP the other day. Are these babul tree flower? Or desi kikkad? (Birds with IndiAves)

Beautiful, isnt it? ā£ļø Rose-ringed parakeet. I often feel they try to communicate with us as we get closer. Their eyes follow our movements. Then they talk before they fly away. Have u ever noticed? (Birds with IndiAves)

The growing city will soon swallow this grazing field. The buffaloes and mynahs will have to find new grounds, and one day, birders will speak of how abundant this place once was. Then, somewhere else, the same story will repeat itself. Birds IndiAves Photography

A drongo-scape. I chase a good frame as much as I chase a rare bird. In that sense, perhaps I’m less of a birder and more of a photographer. I suspect this curious hybrid exists in many of us. IndiAves, Birdwatching

Weekends are so precious. Hard to pick between running, birding and cycling. Btw, running is fun. So is birding or cycling or having beer with friends. I guess the common thing is friends. They are šŸ’Ž.
