If the Israeli journalist’s question/statement was deemed inappropriate then let the Irish manager respond with a ‘no comment’, or, indeed, a strong pushback. He is media trained and knows how to do this. It is entirely wrong for an Irish journalist to aggressively attempt to reef the mic out of his hand (while berating him) just because he didn’t like the question. Frankly it’s astonishing that this even needs to be said. The fact that the Israeli journalist was put in a position of having to say ‘don’t touch me’, is unacceptable. For our paper of record to then frame this situation as the Israeli doing the attacking is a perfect illustration of how profoundly dishonest our media establishment is when reporting on anything to do with Israel.
