Interstate 80 will NOT reopen tonight. We will provide an update in the morning. We are working on reopening Highway 50 but as can be seen by our trailer at Twin Bridges covered in snow, it's very challenging with high winds and snow still falling. @CHP_Truckee @CHPSouthLake

ALT Six Basic Steps for Properly Measuring Snow. Accurate and timely snowfall measurements are extremely important to the NWS, community, local media, and many others. Here are the six steps you need to know for measuring snow. 1. Supplies include ruler or yardstick and a white board. 2 Find an open area away from tall objects but sheltered. 3 Set up board before snow begins and mark it with a flag. 4. Measure once daily at the same time, after measuring place board on top of snow. 5 When snow stops, measure ASAP to avoid melting 6. Report to NWS
