If BIP110 fails to activate as main chain, no one would use Corecoin. They are just going to buy rehypothecated IOUs and role play while they continue to stay in the fiat system. That is all they know how to do.
Meanwhile Knots would fork and continue to carry the torch of separating money from state. We will all run our own nodes, validate our own transactions, custody our own bitcoin, and grow the Bitcoin circular economy.
Corecoin wouldn't stand a chance against the BIP110 chain. I think the miners understand this. I expect and hope for a smooth transition away from Bitcoin Core today.

No.
The 'fight stage' been ongoing insidiously for years IMHO.
A new breed of Bitcoiners is emerging; one that sees the monetary purpose of the protocol as merely one use case among many they hope to build, and views Bitcoin's current scripting constraints as limitations standing in their way.
This same group strategically refuses to define spam.
Instead, they argue that Bitcoin is fundamentally nothing more than a 'thermodynamic something database', where all data is simply ones and zeros.
The "What even is spam?" from Core isn't just a rhetorical question.
It's laying the foundation for the next one:
"What is Bitcoin?"
The destruction of clear definitions, the elevation of confusion into sophistication, and the weaponization of tolerance to smuggle in an entirely different value system while pretending it is still the same Bitcoin.
"who is getting hurt: everyone. Humanity. I believe that. By increasing friction for monetary uses of Bitcoin and lowering the chance of ultimate success of the project."

Bitcoin being abused as a dumping ground for toxic waste by bad actors maliciously was the price we accepted for the separation of money and state.
Core expanding the attack surface and normalizing that abuse with sophistry is not.🤷♂️

The state is a parasitic institution that uses other people's money to fund people doing jobs that people weren't willing to pay for voluntarily.
This misallocates resources, leading to fewer human ends met using increasingly expensive means.
Spam on Bitcoin is very similar.
Spammers are parasitic entities that use other people's nodes for "use cases" people weren't willing to pay for voluntarily.
This misallocates resources, leading to fewer human ends met using increasingly expensive-to-use money.
"Use cases" do not add value to money, but leak it. Every non-monetary transaction on the time chain uses up resources that should have been used solely for sending and receiving money.
It's the same old broken window fallacy that all Keynesians fall for.
Steady lads. Ignore the confusion. BIP-110 is ready. They are fighting from all angles, that is not a coincidence.

We are under attack. And they are aiming for the very heart of the Bitcoin social layer. Coldcard and BTCPayserver. These are enthusiast/hardcore tools, used by the people who live and bleed Bitcoin.
This does not feel like chance.
Targeted.

This era will be known as the Bitcoin Era of AI Upgrades

There is a critical vulnerability being actively exploited on BTCPay Server, which can result in the loss of funds.
Please update your BTCPayServer to 2.4.2 by going to Admin Dashboard -> Server -> Maintenance -> Update & verify the 2.4.2 version string in the footer.
If you are unable to update right away, turn off your BTCPay Server to prevent unauthorized access until you can update.

Goes without saying, but in case it's not obvious still:
This is why gigabrained devs don't feel strongly about spam and other problems. It doesn't impact them and don't feel it's their responsibility either way.
They work "in Bitcoin", but their lives are Bitcoin-adjacent.

Hodlonaut on the pressure campaign to make him drop BIP-110:
"The lengths people have gone to, to intimidate me out of supporting it. My DMs are full of it. People reaching out: what are you doing with this BIP-110 support? Your reputation is going to hell.
It starts with friendly nudging, then threats. And then, when they realize I'm actually tying myself to the mast, it's just straight hostility and smearing.
But I don't care what people I don't respect say about me. I don't want any standing or position among people who don't share my principles. I'm very much supporting BIP-110."

Unpopular opinion....
Self-custody should be as hard as it currently is or harder
IDGAF about your mass adoption or NGU BS.
Reason being is at the current level of difficulty it requires you to at least invest and sacrifice time to learn how to do it.
This creates a different level of respect appreciation and commitment throues application of self.

Current perspective -
They tried to crudely wrestle control of Bitcoin away from the sovereigns with the "hard forks" in 2017.
They realized that it just doesn't work. So instead this time around there's a Fabian style infestation of the space and it has become captured rather than overtly conquered.
It's very hard to defend against this because the attacks are all small enough to make any concrete pushback appear to be an overreaction.
Anyone who can extrapolate forward can see that anything that undermines Bitcoin's identity as a monetary protocol, if not rejected decisively, results in eventual death.
It's not here to compliment the dollar, it's here to replace and destroy it. Cope to the tune of "trojan horses" is now and always was self deception.
Protocol capture is real and the norm for freedom tech that reaches levels Bitcoin has.
People continue to underestimate the threat Bitcoin poses to the system and refuse to understand the lengths to which that system will go in neutering it.
I'll have more to say over the coming days as we establish whether the industry still respects the decentralization necessary to maintain our disruptive potential or if it chooses to close ranks and become a servant of the fiat apparatus currently coopting the network.

THE SHOCK DOCTRINE
Fair warning that in times of great disruption (eg Coldcard exploit), factions with ulterior motives inevitably use the opening to strike.
• They will use this to promote paper Bitcoin.
• They will use this to jam shitcoins onto Bitcoin.
• They will use this to claim self-custody is "too risky."
Don't fall for it. Bitcoin is money. Self-custody works, and it IS worth learning.
Stay sovereign. Be a Bitcoiner.

If you think BIP-110 is cAncELed, you need to reassess (among other things):
- which news sources or influencers you trust
- your understanding of BIP-110
- your understanding of the people supporting BIP-110

I will be setting up my node tonight after moving. Been super busy.
Listened to @hodlonaut podcast with Cedric today. I will be running BIP110.
Miners don’t control the network, nodes do.
See pinned tweet from February, or just block me; been around long enough don’t care.
