Let’s do it! 6 pm local start for the Tim Hortons Heritage Classic. Join Dave Reid and me outside of the US and Canada with the NHL International broadcast.
First time my attire to broadcast a hockey game has included two coats, a winter, hat, a scarf and gloves and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s Heritage Classic day in Winnipeg!
Literally LOL’d at @sportsnetkyle last question to Kevin Cheveldayoff on the pod. Kyle, Kevin may not have known where you were going, but the Jets admin certainly did. 😂
On a plane full of Habs fans from Chicago to Winnipeg this morning. It’s going to be an awesome atmosphere at the Heritage Classic in Winnipeg tomorrow!
Back with my guy @KenDaneykoMSG for our NHL on 9 Now and 9Go! broadcast in Australia. We have Montreal and Chicago tonight. Blackhawks are 2-1 since Connor Bedard’s return. Montreal trying to build some consistency after an up and down start.
Devils forward depth improving allows this trade without too much damage up front. They get a franchise goalie. Jets get to move on and hope that Mercer provides some immediate depth for a team that needs it and add a future in Command. We'll see if Mercer debuts outdoors Sunday.
Really looking forward to the next few days! Tonight, we have Montreal at Chicago for our Australian audience on 9Go! and 9Now. Then, off to Winnipeg. Thrilled to have the NHL International call of Sunday’s Heritage Classic!
We’ve got a great one for our NHL on 9 Go! and 9 Now match up. Join @kevweekes and me for the Avalanche and Penguins at 12pm AEDT.
Some more NHL thoughts heading into tonight’s NHL on 9 broadcast: Luke Hughes has been fantastic for the Devils. If he continues to play to his potential like a true one D, that really changes the expectations ceiling for this Devils team.
Contract situation certainly doesn’t seem to be bothering Quinn Hughes. 12 points through the Wild’s first 8 games as Minnesota is now 5-2-1. That central division could be a bloodbath with Utah and Winnipeg off to good starts along with Wild, Avs and Stars.
What a showdown we have for our NHL on 9 Now! and 9 Go matchup for our fans in Australia this week. Sidney Crosby and Pittsburgh against his fellow Nova Scotian Nathan MacKinnon and Colorado. Noon AEDT time Saturday in Australia with @KevinWeekes and me.
Some early season NHL thoughts heading into Frozen Frenzy tonight:
Let's start with the defending champs. Not surprised to see the Canes picking up where they left off. Five wins straight and following the same old recipe. PK is incredible again (92.3%) and dominating shots. 1/7
Overlook Winnipeg at your own peril. Down year last year, Hellebuyck drama, but let's remember this team won the President's Trophy two seasons ago. Kyle Conner is so fun to watch with 6 goals in first five games. Team needs depth scoring to pick up to sustain this start. 6/7
