I’ve seen & endured enough: after this thread, I’m removing the Twitter app from my phone. It’s been a good 15 year run. You can find me at link in bio.

I'm over on that other app that rhymes with "heads," banging out a bunch about Sinead that once upon a time i would have shared here. Just a reminder to please join me over there, and leave the douchery of Twitter behind. Like I did months ago. One of the best decisions Ive made.

We've finally reached the "Hitler was the victim" level of discourse. Make it stop. I've always cherished and literally fought for freedom of speech, but my god does it feel like there has to be a better answer than this.
If it wasn’t already apparent. This…this is truly the end of Kanye West ever stepping on a respectable festival stage ever again.

I just signed up for waitlist for Post, one of several promising Twitter alternatives. Not sure where/if I’m going yet, but looking to experiment and learn. If you use this link to join their waitlist it will help me gain access sooner, apparently. post.news/?r=Wf8YC

Great explanation on how the system is broken from both ends -- Major Artists <> Ticket Sellers. ft. the 🤮'est of pukey quotes from "working class hero", Bruce Springsteen. Gross.
Just shared the motherload Taylor/Ticketmaster analysis, with some insights I haven’t read elsewhere. If you want to be challenged to think through assumptions about Ticketmaster, artist control, pricing, etc, it’s here: us6.campaign-archive.com/hom…

What happens when an excellent writer who is also a songwriter spends years listening to all 1143 @Billboard #Hot100 number one songs from 1958 to 2022, and analyzes them through the lens of key change? Absolute brilliance, that’s what. tedium.co/2022/11/09/the-dea…

I didn’t expect the depth and breadth of these insights. Looking at this chart from the essay, the timing of the drop in key changes—an element no longer employed by number one hits—made me assume it had to do with the rise of social media or file trading. I was wrong.

Instead, @cdr43210 weaves history, music theory, and strong analysis together to pinpoint the rise of 1. Hip-hop and 2. Digital music production as the culprits. A fascinating and worthwhile #longread that taught me a lot.

Let's not be shocked by what happened in Colorado. Hate-filled, terrorist Americans have been telling us their plans and following through. I'm heart broken, but I cant deny that I'm also pretty blind with rage at this point. This poison plant needs to be attacked at the roots.

I'm not counseling violence. But our current legislative, executive, judicial & activist approaches aren't nearly enough, and leave marginalized and/or defenseless populations--everyone from school children to the LGBTQ+ community--getting slaughtered.
