Bitcoin is literally actively detrimental to humankind without privacy. It is A BAD THING FOR THE WORLD.
Privacy is too fucking important to treat as a LARP, or a funding grift, or a game. Every single privacy project in the history of this space has been one or all of the above.

> Gmail
Pro
> Desktop

Throwback to when Google announced end-to-end encryption features for Gmail after the Snowden revelations and then quietly abandoned the project 3 years later to make sure they could "provide added value" by scanning everyone's emails.
The chart for $CVNA is wild. Everyone thought they were dead in 2023.

Your TV should weigh 100 pounds, make a high frequency sound only your dog can hear, take thirty seconds to warm up, and leave a lingering bright dot in the center when you turn it off.

Jason Furman on AI vs human economists: If he were running the CEA today and had a choice between 20 highly qualified staff members “versus the AI systems that we have today, I would somewhat regretfully and sadly choose the AI systems.” axios.com/2026/10/23/ai-econ…
Sometimes I miss the the 0.3 BTC I lost in the ColdCard hack and wonder if it ever made it to a good home
Hopefully letting AI direct more scientific research won't result in science getting manipulated for nefarious purposes
I'm not really a goldbug, but it's absurd to paint this as portending the end of gold's supply scarcity anytime soon.
I'm still waiting for commercial fusion (first proposed as early as the 1940s)
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.
Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.
Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.
Wayback Machine was also extremely important in patent litigation. If I wanted to invalidate a patent by showing that the claimed invention already existed before the patent's effective filing date, Wayback Machine would sometimes save the day.
The founder of the Internet Archive explaining why their work is critical and news companies are wrong to fight against them.
- Journalists rely on the Wayback Machine. It preserves histories so when people try to cover things up by changing a website, those histories are available
- Pew found over a 10 year period, a FOURTH of websites they tracked disappeared. That's histories and knowledge lost, without Wayback.
- I didn't realize, but IA isn't a fan of scraping for building AI, and the piece gets into why. I don't exactly agree, but it also makes sense why their tool is built more for human use for capacity reasons.
But this is another good example of news orgs fighting the same tools their journalists use religiously

The fact that it's late 2026, AI is hacking the world, and Apple is continuing to maintain an easily avoidable obstacle to software supply-chain verification on a platform of global security importance tells you everything you need to know about security culture in Big Tech.
