PSA: stop using Three.js to make anything unless you want to keep throwing your money into the fire.

Hey all you vibe coders one-shotting demos and posting about it this is for you: 1) These aren't games. They're tech demos. 2) Don't forget that what makes a game fun is called the "core loop". It's what keeps people playing and, more importantly, coming back to your game. A core loop doesn't need to last forever but there needs to be one! 3) Threejs is not a viable engine to monetize your game on. No one buys threejs games. You are better off using an engine like Unity, Unreal, Godot, and releasing it on a store like Steam. 4) Your game needs to have a sense of style and be different enough to stand out. All of these racing demos look the same! Be creative!

What I really want from the VR industry is a strong number 2 from a hardware manufacturer. A company that understands: -- Price matters. -- Content is King. -- Friction to buy and discover games is low. -- Comfort matters.

The question should be "What are the odds developers can make money releasing games for this platform?" If the answer is low then it doesn't matter how great the device is.
Valve's Steam Frame is a great all-in-one wireless PCVR headset, but is it worth the cost? bit.ly/4cKvyp0

20 years ago a talented group of developers in the middle of the cornfields, Illinois released the first HD generation open-world game for the 360. Saints Row 1 was the most successful alternative to GTA at that time and spawned a franchise that, hopefully, will return at some point.

We've been making VR games for 11 years (!!) now. If standalone did not exist we would've gone out of business 9 years ago. It's really that simple. Standalone IS the VR industry. Sorry to be blunt about it.

It was incredibly fun to help direct Patrick Stewart (and, really, all of the cast were quite brilliant on this game. I tried to bring Elite Force 2 to XBLA back in the day...

Modders are NOT the saviors for VR. Modding is not a sustainable business! Developers and the businesses that support them ARE the true saviors.
