The Rise of Rand Stablecoins – How Digital Dollars and Rand-Backed Tokens are Quietly Transforming Everyday CheckOuts So far in 2026, #Bitcoin ($BTC) made up 39.9% of all checkout spending across the MoneyBadger payment network. Meanwhile, $USDT took 36.1%, and $ZARU claimed 7.7%. Combined, these two stablecoins accounted for nearly 44% of total transaction value. The data comes directly from verified merchant transactions on the MoneyBadger network. For a business paying a supplier, how quickly funds arrive is important. For transfers of $100,000 or more, stablecoins reached their destination within one hour roughly 97.7% of the time, compared with only about half of global wholesale wires. That makes stablecoins roughly twice as reliable at achieving subone-hour finality. Wire performance varies sharply by region, with less than a quarter of wholesale wires in #Africa meeting the one-hour mark. Even in North America, where wires perform best, wires fail or miss the one-hour mark more than ten times as often as stablecoin transfers. CASE STUDY | Before Kenya Argued About Blockchain Voting, 4 Students Had Already Run an Election On It In April 2018, while the country was still litigating a nullified presidential vote, a Kenyan-founded venture put a school’s student government election on a smart contract. Nobody – including the people who wrote it – could see the count. In September 2017, Kenya’s Supreme Court did something no court on the continent had done before. It annulled a presidential election, and it did so not because of the ballots but because of what happened to the numbers between the polling station and the tallying centre. The court’s problem was transmission. The count itself was never really the issue. Seven months later, four students at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg built a voting system where transmission could not be tampered with, and ran their school’s election on it. Three of the four were Kenyan. They had been watching. Details: bitcoinke.io/2026/10/4-stude… #BlockchainUseCases #BitKECaseStudy #BlockchainVoting
