1/ For years since the inception of Armada we’ve deployed modular data centers all over the planet. Now with NVIDIA and Johnson Controls we’re taking this to an entirely different level of speed, scale and sovereignty.

BREAKING: Palantir is taking sovereign AI off-grid. Armada has secured a deal to become @PalantirTech inaugural Certified Modular Data Center Partner, enabling its AI stack to run on-grid, off-grid, and fully air-gapped. @armada_ai has already deployed its modular data centers on a U.S. Navy warship, for offshore drilling operations, and across remote operations in Alaska.

The world is going to be alright, guys. Keep having kids, loving your family, and starting and building businesses and institutions. Don’t live in fear. Leaders have big responsibilities and challenges ahead, but it doesn’t help to scare everyone. We are on top of it.

Kurtz makes an important point: The "affordability crisis" is more about social capital than financial capital. The price point to "buy into" a decent life has gone up because so much of society is dysfunctional. You have to have enough money to live in a place that isn't overrun with crime or other anti-social behavior. That was not the case a couple generations ago the way it is now. This means the answer is not just a change in economic policy. Yes, we do need better policies (eg, lower regulation that can allow more entry level housing to be built - the affordability crisis on housing is largely due to artificial constraints on supply and artificial inflation of demand; deporting illegals would help with the supply/demand problem, but so would an ease in the regulatory burden; etc.). Beyond policy changes, we need to mend the torn social fabric. And underneath that torn social fabric is our torn spiritual fabric. The younger generation's misery has many causes, some self-inflicted, but the reality is that the social inheritance they should have received has largely been squandered. The financial squeeze is largely due to the social and spiritual liquidation of American culture. This is the key claim: "My argument is that previous generations received an enormous stock of social capital: trusted neighbors, functional public schools, a productive courtship culture, predictable career arcs, and a public square in which children could roam and adults could be relied upon. That stock, once given for free, has now been substantially liquidated. Instead, the young must now buy back, item by item and at retail prices, what their grandparents received as a bounty of prior civilizational investments." This is why there is no political or economic solution to our mess. Yes, we do need political and economic reforms. But rebuilding social capital depends on the character of the people, the kinds of lives they live, and the kinds of communities they form. A high trust, morally coherent society (like America once had) cannot be legislated or monetized into existence. The problems run much deeper than policy.

Our problems do not disappear in the Lord’s presence; they are illuminated. Just as every cross finds redemption in Jesus, so the story of our lives finds its meaning in the Gospel. #ApostolicJourney #EquatorialGuinea vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Today we’re sharing some big news. @Saronic closed a $1.75B Series D fundraise at a $9.25B valuation, led by @kleinerperkins. Honestly, it’s a bit surreal to look back at how much has happened in such a short time. We started with a simple belief: the maritime world was being overlooked, and autonomy could change that in a big way. Since then, it’s been a lot of time on the water, building, testing, breaking things, fixing them, and doing it all over again — just trying to move fast and get better every step of the way. What makes me most proud though isn’t the milestone, it’s the team behind it. Saronic is what it is because of people who genuinely care about what we’re building and who push hard every day to do it right. That’s the part that really matters. This next chapter is about scaling up — faster builds, bigger footprints, and continuing to invest in American shipbuilding in a real way. We’ve got a lot of work ahead, and that’s the exciting part. Grateful to everyone who’s been part of this, from our team, to our investors and partners, and to our customers. Let's go!

"I'm not very hopeful. It would almost take a miracle to make that work," says Igor Torreira on the plausibility of an international AI ban. Igor Torreira is a Senior Fellow at Georgetown University's Center for Security and Emerging Technology and a former senior researcher at the RAND Corporation, where he led research on military cyber operations and the effects of cyber weapons. He also worked as a Special Assistant in the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the U.S. Department of Defense. Listen to my conversation with him below, where we discuss: 2:48 What people most commonly misunderstand about technological competition between the US and China 4:35 Why large government and military institutions struggle to adopt new technologies 6:27 How autonomous systems could change the future of warfare 10:06 Whether humans will continue to remain directly involved in warfare 11:53 The cybersecurity risks created by autonomous and AI-enabled systems 13:10 How AI could shift the offense-defense balance in cyber conflict 15:15 The relevance of traditional metrics like GDP in light of AI 20:44 The role of think tanks and independent research organizations in shaping policy 22:56 Whether international agreements or bans on AI development are realistically possible 24:48 Advice for students interested in technology policy and security

OK I read the thing. I think the future will take longer to arrive than this assumes. I also think it will be both weirder and better. B2B SaaS is less than half a percent of US GDP. It's simply not an important industry relative to anything macroeconomic. Furthermore if all B2B SaaS rents disappeared overnight, all other businesses would become that much more productive and profitable. Again, this is a small effect, because B2B SaaS is small potatoes. It's funny how the piece assumes Uber driver will still be a job. In SF the Uber drivers are complaining about losing out to Waymo already. The article doesn't talk about who takes home the high profits that accrue to GPUs and what they do with those resources. They sit in some Scrooge McDuck money vault, I guess. If you believe the scarce factor of production is permits for energy and data center builds, various bureaucrat-whisperers and lobbyists end up with all the money. Not exactly what I believe will happen, but it struck me as a glaring omission—many white-collar jobs are some version of this, and in the future they may become moreso. In general, there is no amount of human or AI cogitation that will be as valuable as a handful of bits of actual information about the future. Cultivate equanimity and patience.
I spent 100 hours over the past week researching, writing and editing the piece we just put out. It’s a scenario, not a prediction like most of our work. But it was rigorously constructed, dismissing it outright requires the kind of intellectual laziness that tends to get expensive. And we’ve released it for free. Hopefully you enjoy it. citriniresearch.com/p/2028gi…

The world needs honest and courageous entrepreneurs and communicators who care for the common good. We sometimes hear the saying: “Business is business!” In reality, it is not so. No one is absorbed by an organization to the point of becoming a mere cog or a simple function. Nor can there be true humanism without a critical sense, without the courage to ask questions: "Where are we going? For whom and for what are we working? How are we making the world a better place?"

Palantir CEO Alex Karp on religion: “I think the true and deeply politically-incorrect thing about this is, the best thing you could do in this country to help people… is expose them to religion.”
🚨ELON MUSK: "If you take away religion, I think you get something in its place which is worse than what was there before. You get something destructive like the woke mind virus taking the place of religion. You get dystopian de facto religions that are self destructive. We need some sort of revival of religion or coherent philosophy that people can get excited about."

Max out your HSA/FSA this year. If you are preventing/reversing a chronic condition (almost everyone), demand a Letter of Medical Necessity for exercise and food interventions before 💊 If your doctor doesn’t know how to do that, get a new doctor and use @TrueMedPayments
