How can a sick guy like me fear broken bones, shattered ribs, or busted teeth? I live for the parts of me that scream and keep moving anyway. ⤷ @JonMoxley fan.

You can stitch up a split eyebrow.
You can tape a busted rib.
You can choke a man unconscious and make him quit, but man, some wounds just don't give a damn how tough you are or pretend to be.
No comeback story, redemption arc, or inspirational bullshit about finding the strength inside yourself.
Just a man who was hurting, standing across from another man who wanted to hurt him worse, and refusing to give him the satisfaction of watching him quit.

I’ve spent a long time in this business learning how to deal with pain.
Had my face split open, my bones broken, my neck twisted, my body pushed past the point where any reasonable person would’ve called it quits and the only thing keeping me upright was my damn stubbornness.
There were moments when I could feel myself slipping, moments when the lights got a little too bright and the world got a little too quiet.
And I kept fighting.
Not because I’m fearless.
Not because I’m some fucking superhero.
Not because I had some beautiful revelation.
Some people spend their whole lives trying to avoid rock bottom.
I’ve been down there so many times, the bastards oughta put my name on the mailbox.
I don’t need the world to make sense, especially when I’ve already made a pretty good living out of surviving the parts that don’t.
I walked into that ring with a little more on my mind than usual and then Speedball tried to take my leg off.
Fair enough.
That’s the deal.
He worked my leg over for twenty minutes. Dragon screws, ankle locks, kneebars, throwing himself off the fucking sky trying to break it.
Respect doesn’t mean you don’t fight somebody.
Respect means you don’t need a fucking excuse to fight them.

I spent the last few weeks finding out exactly how much I had left in the tank.
But when you back me into a corner, I don’t become easier to beat. I become a fucking problem. Then I walked into Allen, Texas and AR Fox wanted to find out for himself.
Fine.
I don’t care how fast you are. I don’t care how pretty you can make it look. Sooner or later, you gotta stand still long enough for somebody to hurt you. And when I caught him, I put him down and walked out with this championship still around my waist.
That’s what I do.
