Okayyyyy.... About what I learnt from the conference so no one is left out. Had to summarize my notes because there was a lot to take in. 1. Ai WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY REPLACE YOU, BUT YOU MUST KEEP LEARNING One of the panelists mentioned that "staying relevant in your field requires continuous learning and upskilling". Technology is evolving, and professionals must be willing to develop new skills to remain competitive. Relying only on what you already know may limit your ability to adapt to emerging opportunities. 2. AI IS A TOOL, SO USE IT AS ONE Artificial intelligence can support research, improve productivity, and help us approach problems differently. However, it should serve as an aid rather than a replacement for human judgment. We must learn how to use AI effectively while retaining our ability to think critically, analyse information, and make independent decisions. 3. BECOME A BUILDER, NOT JUST A USER There is a difference between using technology that others have created and identifying problems that technology can help solve. Rather than remaining passive consumers of technological innovations, we should begin to explore how we can contribute to creating solutions. Building does not necessarily mean developing software. It can also mean identifying a problem, understanding the people affected by it, and developing a practical solution. 4. BECOME A PROBLEM SOLVER Innovation becomes more meaningful when it addresses real problems. This means observing the challenges around us, asking the right questions, conducting research, and exploring practical solutions. As someone working at the intersection of biology and agriculture, I can begin by identifying challenges faced by farmers and investigating how technology might help address them. 5. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THE TECHNOLOGY SPACE The technology industry can appear intimidating, especially to people whose academic backgrounds are outside computer science or software engineering. But, we do not necessarily need to become technology specialists before exploring how technology can improve our respective fields. The important thing is to remain curious, learn continuously, and be willing to experiment. 6. WORK WITH AI WITHOUT ALLOWING IT TO TAKE OVER YOUR THINKING AI can generate ideas, organise information, and assist with research. Nevertheless, the responsibility to evaluate its outputs remains with us. We must question the information it provides, verify important claims, and apply our own understanding before making decisions. #BFUL3
