Now to get back to why today matters Buckle up, cause this is a long one I’m gonna start by talking about this photo. For the longest time I spited Pokemon and collecting. Not because I didn’t do it, but because I couldn’t. When i was fresh out of high school, I made some bad choices, got into a lot of health complications, and even more legal trouble. I ended up getting the classic “the locks are changed good luck” convo from my parents, and had my backpack full of the following; an Xbox 360, spare change of clothes, Gears of War, and my original base set collection and forward, PC binder. Lived in my car and on couches for 3 months with no worries, until friends got tired of it, and the cold got, well cold. I ended up going to apply for places, and had nowhere near the money it took to do so. But, I did have one thing. So I took my binder to a pawnshop and accepted the absolutely lowest offer to get myself into that apartment. Looking back at that I’d always be so mad. The money I lost, the memories behind it, and what it could do inevitably in the future. Everytime I saw people with it I got visually upset and had no interest. That is until I rejoined the hobby and fell in love with silver tempest Lugia, and eventually on fourth pack of set hit OBF Zard. Fast forward and Prismatic comes out. I promised myself I would own every one of these those sirs, and wouldn’t stop til I did. And I didn’t stop, even after creating this piece of ART framed in my office. I then committed to not allowing myself to have to throw away the memories, hits, and cards I loved like I did last time. And I’m doing a pretty damn good job. Pokemon to me is now a hobby, a way of making new friends, a break from the bs, and sometimes the cause of it (iykyk), and also a career. I love what I do. And it’s all due to this. So if you’ve read this far, I tried to keep it short and to the point. This is more than a hobby. I look forward to more joining for the right reasons, and more leaving who are in it for the wrong.
