🗣️ Xabi Alonso on Cole Palmer’s red card: "I have to check. It was hard for everyone to deal with 1-0 when the game was so close. It affected a bit our emotional control." #CFC | DT [@BBCMOTD]

🗣️ Xabi Alonso on missing Joao Pedro: "It would be so easy to talk about the players we're missing but with the squad that we have, we believe we can do better with the team that we have. We have to be self-critical and take responsibility." #CFC | DT [@BBCMOTD]

🗣️ Xabi Alonso on Mike Penders: “We win together, we lose together. It's part of the job to overcome mistakes. Myself as well, and everyone. We support Mike. He will learn from that. He can do better and we have to show he can do better.” #CFC | DT [@BobbyVincentFL]

🗣️ Xabi Alonso on disciplinary issues: “We need to work and improve on that. We spoke yesterday about those things. One first yellow can be decisive. It's a process of the maturity of the team.” #CFC | DT [@BobbyVincentFL]

🗣️ Xabi Alonso on Joao Pedro injury: “We don't know yet because he has a lot of fluid. We need to wait until tomorrow's tests.” #CFC | DT [@BobbyVincentFL]

🗣️ Xabi Alonso on learning moment for Cole Palmer: “Absolutely. I've not seen it but I've been told it's right. I need to check the action before speaking with Cole but it's one to learn from for sure.” #CFC | DT [@BobbyVincentFL]

🗣️ Xabi Alonso on the defeat: “For sure we are disappointed with the result and the performance. We spoke at half time and had the feeling it was going to be about the first goal. Half chances from them, half chances from us. It was going to be about the key moment. When we conceded the first goal, it went the other way. We can do better.” #CFC | DT [@BobbyVincentFL]
