This week's schedule is scary for several reasons. It's scary because of the Halloween theme. It's also scary because I am battling a respiratory virus that has taken my voice. I've already had to call out of one game on my schedule for this coming week. My goal is to be ready for the college volleyball tournament starting on Friday.
Way to go, ladies!
The Festus Tigers softball team has done it. They have defeated the Cor Jesu Chargers 8-1 for the Class 4, District 1 Championship! The big blow in the game came off the bat of Mia Metzger. The senior blasted a 3-run homer in the third inning to make the score 6-0, and the Tigers never looked back. Keeleigh Hankins was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and a run scored. Winning pitcher Ava Oberle went the distance, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking none.
The Tigers move to 24 and 7 on the season and will face the Class 4, District 2 Champion, Parkway West. The game will be played at Parkway West this Saturday, the 24th. The time is yet to be determined.
