Bret was never scared of the fans turning on him. He beat the shit out of the 123 Kid throughout, and allowed maximum sympathy for the smaller man. Bret worked many babyface vs babyface matches in the WWF. Always the aggressor, always told the story that the win was what mattered

One thing I love about the Bret-Austin feud is that they had this, the last heavyweight match of its kind on a big stage in the United States. But then a few months later, they also had the first match of a new era in pro wrestling. Both were completely different from each other.
