The latest federal budget deficit is near $2 trillion, ($1.99 trillion, to be exact) which is its highest since the pandemic. Spending on the military, safety net programs, and paid interest on the national debt ($3 billion per day) have dwarfed cost-cutting measures. πŸ”— nytimes.com/2026/10/16/busin…

You would think/hope this would receive more attention in Douglas than it has: the County Commission and Sheriff office continuing to waste taxpayer dollars trying to defend their illegal conduct rather than showing the integrity to admit they screwed up and move on (or work to have the competence or ethics to not screw up in the first place), but arrogance knows no limits. The County thinks taxpayer dollars are their own personal piggy bank from $17K airfare tickets to Dubai; to funding crony projects for tens of millions of dollars; to using taxpayer funds to try and shove home rule down citizen throats and stop a restructuring of county government proposed by the citizens. Wake up DougCo. These are not fiscally conservative Republicans running the county. They are just good ole fashion corrupt local politicians. denvergazette.com/2026/10/13…

CANVASS! Sunday, October 18, HR Library. Have told people to follow the county slate lit as it helps HD43, SD30, County Candidates and CD4 (and the three to five commissioner lit). NEED A GOOD TURNOUT AND GOOD LAST PUSH THE FINAL FEW WEEKS AS OPPOSITION HAS SPENT BIG FOR PAID CANVASSERS. Having actual volunteers and residents knocking on doors and letting people know you care rather than allowing our reprsentation to be bought by outside money is HUGE!

Gee, for all those who inisted no one should say anything or take any action until an investigation was complete; if one sees smoke, firetrucks hooking up to hydrants, feels intense heat and hears people screaming... Maybe it was right to conclude there was an ongoing dumpster fire and speak out about it...

Meanwhile, in other news, a second school in consecutive weeks refuses to play Lutheran High School. And the number of GOP elected officials in DougCo or GOP candidates who have expressed concern about this is . . . a whole number less than one . . .
District 11 says Coronado High School is forfeiting its upcoming game against Lutheran High School, now the second team to do so in two weeks. Read more about District 11's decision at the link in our bio.

Did conservative commentator and Colorado Union of Taxpayers President Kim Monson's show this morning regarding the effort to go to five commissioners in Douglas County. KIM ENDORSES THE MOVE TO FIVE COMMISSIONERS AND TO ELECT THEM BY DISTRICT. That was not always true but after months of looking at it and understanding how the structure of the government is more important than who is running it, she fully endorses five by district even with the added fiscal cost as it is penny wise but pound foolish to have grown the government exponentially, but not the representation or oversight. Douglas County Questions 200, 201, and 1A Set the Number of Commissioners and How They Are Elected Bob Marshall, a Democratic state representative from Highlands Ranch, said Douglas County’s commissioner question began as a citizen petition, which the county clerk and recorder certified for the ballot on August 12, as a Kim Monson Newsroom report details. Question 200 asks whether to expand the Board of County Commissioners from three members to five, and its ballot title, which the commissioners set, puts the cost at $760,000 to $1.3 million a year. Marshall said petitioners had estimated about $500,000 and that the commissioners chose the higher figures to scare voters away. The Colorado Constitution lets a county of more than 70,000 residents elect up to five commissioners, Marshall said. If Question 200 passes, Question 201 asks whether all five would be elected by district, each by that district’s voters alone, or three by district and two countywide. The commissioners then referred Question 1A, which would elect all five countywide. Marshall’s protest against 1A failed 2 to 1, with board chair George Teal dissenting, and the lawsuit he filed afterward has not removed it from the ballot. Marshall urged a yes vote on 200 and a no vote on 1A. He prefers five commissioners elected by district but has not pushed voters on 201, because he said the two countywide members under the other option could still vote as a bloc with one district commissioner and freeze out the rest. The 2026 Colorado Voter’s Guide recommends a yes vote on 200, a vote for five district commissioners on 201, and a no vote on 1A. Marshall’s own precinct, outside the Front Range Passenger Rail District, received Ballot Issue 7A, the district’s sales tax and debt question. He said clerks should count 7A votes only from precincts inside the district, as the Colorado Department of State directed on October 7, according to a Kim Monson Newsroom report. β€œOnce you get a big diverse county with diverse interests in different parts of the county, you really need someone looking out for your own interests and not the interests of everyone because people get left out.” Bob Marshall, Colorado State Representative kimmonson.com/kim_monson_sho…

Everytime you think Trump and the GOP cannot possibly further debase America . . .
The Department of War plans to livestream an execution by firing squad. The list of countries that execute people in public includes Iran, North Korea and Taliban-run Afghanistan. It’s not a list America should want to join economist.com/united-states/…

YES ON 200/NO ON 1A. No large union, corporation or nonprofit would be run with just three people responding to the same constituents when there are multiple ones to listen to. Yet DougCo has a $750M/yr budget and 400K people and we let just two people make all the decisions? Penny wise/pound foolish. YES ON 200/NO ON 1A
9am hour on Thursday is the DougCo battle we've been waiting for! George Brauchler vs. Bob Marshall on adding two commissioners to the county. Can't miss! jeffandbillshow.com

Hmm. Don't agree 100%, but a pretty fair article and assessment: "The bottom line Our read: Marshall is the rare legislator whose record matches his pitch. [His] bills that pass are the dull, competent ones; the bills that die are the ones that would take power from someone." discoverdougco.com/news/who-…

Visited Buckley Space Force Base for a brief from Colorado's Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. (DMVA not DMV...). Went out to the flightline and actually caught this one snap pic during a takeoff. Not telephoto not a video cut.

Glad Parker Mayor Rivero came out condemning ongoing racial animus out of Lutheran. It is exhausting constantly being the only elected official in DougCo to condemn this type of bigotry in the Counthy. And it's great that some adults (i.e., Air Academy) are taking action. Once is an accident. Twice a coincidence. Three or more a pattern. And Lutheran High School has shown an unfortunate pattern. And no, it's not reasonable to say something has been misconstrued or they are being singled out because they are a private Christian school. Valor is the NY Yankees of Colorado HS sports and a strong evangelical school, but have never heard any complaints against them like those leveled against Lutheran. Same with Regis, Mullen et al. What is disappointing is that, as always, nothing but crickets from the DougCo GOP political establishment. Mayor Rivero holds a nonpartisan office. krdo.com/news/2026/10/07/air…

OUTSIDE MONEY! GOP dark money group (New Day) filed a 48 hour expenditure disclosure that they bought $100K in ads for our opposition. More than our entire campaign has spent all cycle. And another dark money group (Coloradans for Accountable Government) disclosed they spent more than $100,000 designing/printing flyers & hiring canvassers for the opposition. And of course none of these groups are based in Douglas County, just like our opponent's campaign. Pretty pathetic as we have never used paid canvassers. All our labor has been organically grown in the district. Just like the majority of our donations. Opposition has now spent almost 3X as much as us with easily over 90% of the funds coming from outside the district trying to buy the seat for the interests of people outside the district. DON'T LET YOUR REPRESENTATION AND REPRESENTATIVE BE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR! secure.actblue.com/donate/bo…

PUBLIC SAFETY! LAW AND ORDER! PROTECT THE CHILDREN! And yet don't forget who the GOP turns a blind eye to in their party; From Trump to Marx; to legislative assistants and campaign workers who are true child predators, never the ones in their fevered imaginations (every accusation is a confession...)
NEW: GOP Gov nominee Victor Marx told backers on a Zoom call last night that he doesn't regret slamming his wife into a door to teach her a lesson about self-defense. "I'd do it again," Marx said. Marx says she fake cried and physicality is just the nature of their relationship.

Two votes β€œin the bank”! Get them in early! (Most campaigns will stop spending money to text, email, call you once you have voted - so good reason to get it in!).

Conservative constituent response when asked how they are voting on the tax measures: (Obviously means 5 commissioners but close enough . . .).
