The question as to why the UN's World Food Program has had it's funding cut is also simple to explain. The UN & multiple UN linked bodies & agencies have have applied policies contrary to American interests for many years now. The US Admin has moved to withdraw from & defund something like 60 such agencies with warnings issued to others. Those nations who support those programs can now choose to increase their contributions to make up the shortfall. Or not. As far as Gaza is concerned Hamas has always stolen most of the food aid that enters Gaza for themselves & to sell at inflated prices for their own benefit & the UN has always let them. There's some talk of Israel restricting food deliveries into Gaza. Mainly from Hamas propagandists. After checking 2 things are happening with food deliveries into Gaza. (1) Commercial shipments stopped Oct 13-15 2026. COGAT, the Israel authority managing the traffic reports Gazan merchants suspended co-ordination with them after Hamas imposed a fee of 'about' NIS 10,000 ($3,200) per truck. COGAT has announced that from Oct 19 commercial deliveries have been 'gradually' resumed after Hamas withdrew their demands. (2) The UN World Food Programme (WFP) announced major cuts around October 19 due to funding shortfalls (receiving less than half the prior year’s funding for its Palestine operations). This reduced monthly recipients from ~1.6 million to 1.1 million, halved rations, cut hot meals from 250,000 to 150,000 per day, and reduced cash assistance. WFP seeks ~$450 million more for the next six months. About two-thirds of Gaza’s population (~1.4 million) face acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 or worse), including ~200,000 in emergency conditions.
