Thank you to @cmckenney and @Bob_Chiarelli and @_MarkSutcliffe for putting fwd their visions for Ottawa. This has been a good debate, but whoever wins please reach out to the others. Good ideas are good, no matter who put them fwd.

Something stinks about the announced hiring of the new Police Chief. The fact that it’s @_MarkSutcliffe's election co-chair @Eli_ElChantiry doing the hiring & it’s being pushed through with unseemly haste on a Friday just days before the election makes it smell very bad. 1/3

"This is a pivotal point for policing in Ottawa and an incredible opportunity to forge a renewed relationship with the community by putting in place a new senior leadership team. 1/2

There was a letter that was submitted to the Board as a written delegation last month highlighting the flaws & poor oversight by the OPSB for the hiring of a new chief. We listed reasonable demands. OPSB ignored the letter (linked below) @cmckenney @Bob_Chiarelli @KatePorterCBC

With more people working from home and some children still receiving their schooling virtually, it has never been more evident rural residents in Ottawa are seriously disadvantaged by the lack of internet service in their areas. 1/8

As mayor, I will slow down the latest Lansdowne redevelopment proposal to allow for proper public consultation. 1/7

As Mayor, I will oppose funding of the planned Salvation Army shelter in Vanier. It’s counterproductive. The homeless deserve smaller settings with a full range of services. 1/8

For 2 reasons, I completely support the letter sent by @Bob_Chiarelli and @cmckenney to the Ontario Civilian Police Commission. It asks for a halt in the hiring of a new police Chief for Ottawa until a new Council can be sworn in after the election. Not only 1/5

Today @cmckenney and @Bob_Chiarelli sent a letter to the Ontario Civilian Police Commission raising urgent concerns about @Eli_ElChantiry’s plan to barrel forward and name a new Police Chief before the citizens of Ottawa have had their say. Trust must be restored. #ottnews

The planned Vanier shelter is a thing of the past. If smaller community organizations like Montfort Renaissance can successfully find spaces to build modern, supportive structures, surely an organization as big as Salvation Army can too. 4/8

“Bob Chiarelli is a fiscal realist. He is the only person thus far who is speaking the truth to those who are eligible to vote in this next election. We are in a crisis, and you don't hear that from anyone else but Bob Chiarelli. ottawacitizen.com/news/local…

Could the reluctance of @MarkSutcliffe to wait for real public consultation into the hiring of the new police chief be because he is beholden to Police Services Board Chair @Eli_ElChantiry, one of his campaign co-chairs?

What is the responsibility of exiting Council members? Finish their terms quietly and leave. Saddling a new Board with one of the most crucial appointments a City could have is wrong when those leaving cannot be accountable for the hire and with a looming public inquiry.

Bylaw is driving around this quiet residential street in the suburbs off Walkley Road looking for drivers parked in excess time on a HOLIDAY. Is that really the best use of taxpayer dollars ?

Listen to the video imbedded in this story. This man is the son of immigrants that arrived here with nothing & helped build this city into what it is now. Bob was born, raised & educated in this city. There is no other place on earth he would rather live. ottawacitizen.com/news/local…

Let me be perfectly clear: my commitment back in May to vote for @Bob_Chiarelli in this election remains strong. This election campaign in #ottcity will decide how the city is run, and we need experience at the Mayor's Chair after everything that has happened. #ottpoli
