Devan Thompkins was a monster for Alabama against Mississippi State. Helped force two INTs and had huge run stops in the red zone.
The athleticism at his size (6’5, 300) is crazy. Built like a 3T but plays a ton on the edge. Maybe Bama’s most important defender against Georgia

Another thing is how great his conditioning is. He is just as explosive on 1st down as he is on 3rd down and at 300lbs that is crazy impressive. Felt like our previous bandits would lose juice slotting inside on 3rd down, not Devan Thompkins

Devan Thompkins - DT, Alabama
- Genetic specimen; Possesses a prototypical build for a modern interior defensive lineman, with excellent length (6’5″) and the capacity to carry his 298lbs frame without losing agility
- Quick learner; consistent year-over-year improvement in production, specifically in his ability to penetrate the backfield
- Untapped potential; natural leverage and power, a difficult matchup for guards and centers who rely solely on technique against raw strength
- Versatility; background as an edge rusher gives him a twitchy advantage when moving inside, allowing him to win with speed-to-power transitions
- Must continue to refine his pass rush moves
- Continued growth in his block-recognition speed is needed

Favorite thing about Devan Thompkins is that he doesn’t have to get home to have massive impacts.
Pick 6 early was largely due to his pressure on Taylor, forcing a bad throw on the run.

.@JonesN4mo, @AaronTaylorCFB, @CoachNeuheisel and @CoachBrianKelly pick who they think win the big SEC matchup between No. 7 Alabama and No. 16 Mississippi State. 👀

“Play really, really hard.”
“Move those (WRs) around. Can’t really pinpoint where they’re going to be at.”
“(Devan Thompkins) … at times can be a problem.”
