Studies have shown that racism is traumatic and can negatively affect our mental health. What often gets left out of these studies, however, is how racism affects the body, so we decided to add our two cents here: buff.ly/2OOnok0
Whatever you're feeling today is valid. Whatever you happen to feel tomorrow will be valid, as will everything you feel every day after that. Your feelings are valid, always.

As black folks we can't talk about mental health without also addressing our bodies. ⠀

One of the ways you can support your vitality and resiliency is finding ways to feel safe and connected to your body. Another way is to understand the ways in which your body communicates with you + how to regulate when you're feeling overwhelmed, helpless, or hopeless.

I wish us all tight hugs, eye contact, restorative naps, warm blankets, community that asks the question, "How is your heart?," waits & listens for the answer silently. May the ground under us hold up with strength & if we need to collapse into grief, may a soft pillow be there.
