🎉Beyond happy to receive an #ERCAdG! @ERC_Research
QtCilia studies a novel nutrient sensing role of #cilia (@NatMetab rdcu.be/dDTn3).We will study how #cilia sense glutamine(Q) and talk to #mitochondria to regulate #metabolism. In health and disease #ciliopathies #PKD

Excited to share the most recent work from our lab! If you are a pkd researcher, check out our website to investigate expression of your gene in different cell types/models!
Kurt A. Zimmerman @Zimmermk1986 developed a single-cell atlas of polycystic kidney disease (#PKD) that integrates multiple disease models: doi.org/10.1172/jci.insight.…
The authors then used the atlas to identify increased osteopontin (Spp1) as a common factor in PKD. Spp1 deletion in PKD mouse models reduced cyst severity and improved kidney function. Importantly, the atlas can be accessed at: bmblx.bmi.osumc.edu/scPKD/

“I am deeply honored and humbled to receive the Lillian Jean Kaplan International Prize. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of many outstanding colleagues, trainees, collaborators, and patients whose contributions have advanced our understanding of polycystic kidney disease. While significant progress has been made, important challenges remain. I look forward to continuing the pursuit of discoveries that deepen our understanding of PKD and ultimately improve the lives of patients and families affected by this disease.” Prof. Qian

Today is PKD Awareness Day. Awareness doesn't happen on its own. It happens because people are willing to share their stories, invite others to events, and start conversations.

Thrilled to congratulate Dr. Virginie Hamel (@UNIGEnews) being elected an @EMBO Member! 🧬✨
We are incredibly honored to have her as a speaker for #EMBOCilia2027.
Don't miss the chance to hear about her group’s groundbreaking work on centriole and cilia assembly mechanisms! 👋
🎉 Excited to receive an #ERCPoC grant!
QrCiliopathies will test the hypothesis that glutamine sensing is critical in renal ciliopathies, and an actionable node for therapeutics development. In PKD and beyond.

This is truly sad news. I have dear memories of Jim when I was starting my lab and I felt him as a kind, thoughtful supporter. He inspired many to pay it forward. R.I.P 🙏

Excited to share our new paper in Science Advances on the proteome of neuronal primary cilia. We found that neuronal cilia are enriched in postsynaptic signaling proteins, including mGluR5, GABAB receptors, GPR158, ion channels, and transporters.
