The Friendship Files is an opening shot at the illegitimate government and its cronies, declaring that the future of India's children-their hopes, dreams and aspirations-is NOT for SALE.

Most Indians don't know this, but the Dreze family are literally academic royalty in Belgium.
Jean's brother the late Xavier Dreze was a highly regarded Marketing professor at UCLA's Anderson School of Management. He was one of the very very few who could do both modeling and consumer behavior research. He died very young at age 48. His obituary says he was a true polymath with multiple academic and sporting talents.
Jean's father the late Jacques Dreze was an economist at the Université Catholique de Louvain. He was a highly regarded economist and the first president of the European Economic Association. He has collaborated with nobel laureates Robert Aumann and Franco Modigliani and his publication record is comparable with the best in the field.
Jean Dreze could have had a very cushy life with his family legacy, white skin and European passport. Even in India, he could have been a social butterfly flitting in and out of five star hotels and running think tanks funded hy veated interests. Instead, he took Indian citizenship, learnt Hindi and roughs it out in rural Jharkhand. He designed many schemes and his footprint is all over Indian economic policy.
You may like him or hate him. But Jean Dreze is more Indian than anyone who was born Indian, including you and me. He chose to be Indian. And he has dedicated his life to India.
Think of this the next time some illiterate journalist asks "Who is Jean Dreze?"

First, you beat a student activist black and blue and then you deny that he is even under detention in your Police Station!
The @DelhiPolice has snatched the mobile phones of all those detained at Sanjay Colony, Maidangarhi Police Station. They have beaten AISA activist Saurabh and are at fusing to let him meet his lawyers!

Since Delhi Police under Amit Shah is not allowing us to protest anywhere in the capital,
all buses carrying MPs of opposition parties are now moving to Jantar Mantar - the designated spot for peaceful protests. Article 19 gives us our Constitutional right for democratic protest.

Excellent work by @1Simranbakshi.
It is indeed disconcerting to note that the latest roster of the @indSupremeCourt, dated 13.07.2026 and publicly available at cdnbbsr.s3waas.gov.in/s3ec04…, appears to have been conspicuously deviated from in assigning the appeal filed by Medha Roopam @dmgbnagar to a specific Bench. Cases under Preventive Detention (Category 2202) are ordinarily heard by the top four judges.
Since Justice Nagarathna had heard the cases relating to the Noida Workers’ Protest, one would have expected this appeal to come before her as well. The assignment of this appeal to Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, seemingly outside the normal roster arrangement, naturally raises questions, despite an enabling line , which is there in most of the rosters.
I had thought that the, malaise of handpicking officers for matters of personal interest to those who matter, was confined to the bureaucracy! One expects the Apex Court to be above these petty considerations, if there were indeed some, as a large number of people on Social Media feel.

“You simp over Rahul Gandhi.”
Yeah.
Because this country spent over a decade and an unimaginable amount of money manufacturing a caricature called ‘Pappu.’
Not by debating his politics.
Not by engaging with his arguments.
But by reducing an entire human being to a punchline until people stopped questioning where that image came from.
And it worked.
Millions of Indians genuinely came to believe that a man with an academic background, years of public life, and documented policy positions was simply an idiot- because that’s what relentless political branding does.
So yes, if women are now openly saying, “Actually, I like this man. I like the way he speaks. I like the way he listens. I like the respect with which he treats women. I like the emotional maturity he brings to politics,” then so be it.
In a country where politics has been built around hypermasculinity, mockery and domination, how a leader makes women feel is not a frivolous question. It’s a political one.
Because women know the difference between a man who needs to be feared and a man who makes you feel heard.
If that helps undo a decade of manufactured propaganda, I have absolutely no problem with it.
And the Pune girlies agree with me💞

From the Red Fort on Independence Day, the Prime Minister of 140 crore Indians stood up and called a section of his own citizens “dimagi naxals”, and ordered them to be identified and isolated.
This is not a one-off slip. This is a pattern.
Urban Naxals.
Khan Market gang.
Tukde-tukde gang.
Anti-nationals.
And now “dimagi naxals.”
Every few years the same man invents a new pejorative for Indians who refuse to clap on cue. Students, journalists, academics, opposition voices; anyone who questions him is quickly turned into an internal enemy who must be hunted and isolated.
A Prime Minister of a constitutional republic does not get to decide which thoughts are legitimate and which minds need to be quarantined. That is not leadership. That is contempt dressed up as patriotism.
When the highest office in a sovereign nation speaks of its own people this way, the failure is not in the citizens. The failure is in the man who cannot lead without manufacturing enemies among them.
140 crore Indians did not elect a Prime Minister to police their minds. They elected him to protect the republic. He has failed that basic test; repeatedly, publicly, and from the Red Fort itself.
This is not strength.
This is insecurity at the highest level of power.
Say it without fear.

… Modiji’s first teleprompter?
In 1953, an engineer at the Indian Statistical Institute in Calcutta wandered through the local Chandni Chowk’s scrap markets, collecting discarded vacuum tubes and military electronics left behind after World War II.
He brought the parts back to his lab and built something that would change Indian technological history.
Who is he and what did he build?
