Ever heard of an artist killed by a volcano?
Paul Merwart's life sounds like Indiana Jones.
In 1875, at 20, a duel changed his life.
He went to Italy to recover from his wounds. There, he discovered art.
From there his path was anything but conventional:
▪️He travelled through Senegal, Sudan, Mauritania and French Guiana.
▪️He explored the jungle in search of gold mines.
▪️He painted Indigenous communities and descendants of Africans who had escaped slavery
▪️He designed stamps for French colonies.
▪️His wife died. Then he set sail on a journey that took him to an erupting volcano.
He was 47 when Mount Pelée erupted on Martinique in 1902.

There is still so much to do and detail on this truck, but I got the drive controller set up and just couldn't help myself. I think I might have dampen the wheels too much, they look a bit flat, but still, so very excited.
Also wonder now how long this 1250 frame render like this would actually take...
