You’ve been invoked. You’ve been pursued. Consider yourself invited, pal. Let me catch you around here again soon.

It has happened more than once that somebody who was not in book club was told about book club and their reaction was to attack my qualifications for running a book club. What face-threatening act have I committed against somebody I’ve never met and don’t know anything about?😹📚

“Do you have every PhD? Do you have experience doing every role at every kind of business described throughout hundreds of books?” “Hey! Nice to meet you.”

Platonic dialogues often resolve nothing. You are left in a state of aporia on purpose to work it out on your own by thinking for yourself and trying to engage others in conversation. This is the whole point.

There are many situations in which you are guaranteed to meet Brown & Levinson’s “model person” although you may go throughout the rest of your life never having met anybody who gave you the impression that they were Kempis’s imitation of Christ.

“There are people who will insist on using violence to enforce insults against police officers who have a loaded sidearm pointed at their corruptible flesh and all the legal justification they need to pop their top off. Then they sink into the ground and repeat it forever.”

I lovr to read stuff like this and use it to assess the last 200 times a stranger made an inappropriate comment about my body and then initiated a confrontation when I dispelled it with a flick of the wrist. “Who do you think you are?” “Fuck you too then!” “You’re not special.”

Maybe you’re not telling me anything I want to hear but it’s what you would want to hear about yourself, and now you are doing the wrong thing, wanting the wrong thing, and as a result feel frustrated like a baby. Maybe I’m trying to mind my own business while this is going on.
