For @PA I caught up with @BorderIrish, which has said it will tweet for the last time on Friday – #BrexitDay – nearly two years since its inception propelled it to internet stardom

There’s been little light in whole Brexit horror show but you @BorderIrish have been immense at time we needed it. A great sense of humour, irony & massive intellect. Was ❤️ at first sight when you posted elephant in room with May at start of ‘negotiations! Please don’t go!! 🙏☘️

All You Had To Do Was Stay // I reviewed @BorderIrish’s book, that I swallowed in two flights. It wasn’t easy to come in the footsteps of an opus citing @Parisbob2001, but I did my best. Hope this is inciting more commentators to cover NI. thepensivequill.com/2019/12/…

In the latest WA the focus is on no formalities North-South and thus the formalities shifted to East-Wast. N-S little will change, which is good for the Good Friday Agreement. But E-W the challenge is to make customs as simple as possible.
Replying to @HansMaessen
Thank you. In this sense the aim is for as simple a process as possible. Or in the terms from two years or so ago, as frictionless as possible, but not actually fully frictionless. Would that be fair?
The Irish Border retweeted
This is a catch 22 situation. If customs wants to facilitate a simplified procedure, they have to identify that specific transaction with a declaration that shows the eligeability for the simplification.

I like to think there's a big box in Barnier's office full of all the variations on this article British media has churned out in three years.
Sitting atop that box is a copy of the Johnson Withdrawal Agreement which puts a border inside the UK to protect the EU Single Market.
