You should know that if your car is repossessed, the lender sells the vehicle usually at an auction and applies the money from the sale to your remaining loan balance, plus any added towing, storage, and repossession fees.
If the car sells for less than what you owe, you are still responsible for paying the remaining amount, known as a deficiency balance. If the car happens to sell for more than the loan balance and fees combined, the lender sends you the extra cash though this rarely happens as everything is controlled by the lender.
