Nonprofits are closest to the challenges in our communities, so they should help decide how AI is used to tackle them. That's the idea behind @Microsoft Elevate for Changemakers. It gives nonprofit professionals hands-on AI skills, credentials they can show, and a community to learn alongside. The goal is to help them use AI for the people they serve.

It’s always great to be back home in Wisconsin. There’s something special about seeing the people and institutions that make this state thrive, from the Green Bay @packers to the local businesses at @TitletownTechGB and community organizations that invest in Wisconsin every day. As someone who grew up in the Fox River Valley, the pace of innovation spanning across so many industries is breathtaking. Wisconsin is an important home for @Microsoft. And we’re proud to be invested in its people, businesses, and communities.

The digital frontier is raising new questions for sovereignty. Governments and organizations need confidence that they can control where AI systems run, who has access to them and how sensitive data is protected. Today, we’re expanding Microsoft Sovereign Cloud to give customers more choice and control across the public cloud, their own environments and trusted local partners. blogs.microsoft.com/blog/202…

Most of us use the cloud every day without ever thinking about what's behind it. At @Microsoftirl's new Dream Space, students get to see it up close and try their hand at electrical engineering, physical computing, and cloud operations in our mini datacenter lab. Since 2018, Dream Space has reached more than 550,000 students across Ireland. This new hub brings that work right to our data center communities and helps young people picture a future for themselves in Ireland's digital economy.

Thank you, @Microsoft Ireland. I always leave energized by the way you show up for our visit, for our company, and for your home country. Nothing shows it more than your support for @LauraLynnHouse, Ireland's Children's Hospice, and our next-door neighbor in Leopardstown. What began in 2014 with just 10 riders has raised more than €2 million, including €265,000 this year, to support children with life-limiting conditions and their families in the hospice and at home. This is #MicrosoftGive at its best. Thank you to everyone who rode, crewed, donated, and cheered. @Microsoftirl

A great moment in Dublin this week, as members of the Trusted Tech Alliance met with Taoiseach @MichealMartinTD at the International AI Summit. This Alliance of world-class providers ensures AI innovation advances with trust, security, and resilience at its foundation.

Less than 10 percent of people in the world have access to a lawyer. We can change that with AI. It’s great to see the progress of our partnership with Clooney Foundation for Justice and at the Oxford Justice Innovators Programme and meet the cohort of innovators who will bring legal tools to the people who need them most. @Microsoft @ClooneyFDN @UniofOxford bsg.ox.ac.uk/news/oxford-ins…

As AI scales, progress won’t just be measured by how powerful our models become, but by how efficiently we can run them. Maia 300 is an important step. We expect it to deliver 40% more tokens per megawatt than leading GPU-based systems, allowing us to provide more AI compute with the same amount of power.

Today we are announcing our biggest bet yet on our own silicon. Starting next calendar year, we will scale our Maia family to multi-gigawatt deployments, making it the primary inference system for our own product and services. And we’re introducing Maia 300, which delivers 40% more tokens per watt compared to leading GPU-based systems. We are already deploying Maia 200 across the US, Europe, and Australia, delivering up to 1.7x more tokens per watt across experiences in Teams and Copilot. Our goal is to build on the full-stack efficiency gains we’ve already seen, while continuing to bring the latest innovations from across the ecosystem into our fleet.

Earlier this year, we introduced new AI capabilities for legal professionals. Today, we’re expanding them with more than 20 legal skills and new partner-built plugins. @Microsoft Copilot can now help lawyers turn an approved template into a new agreement, review a contract and suggest tracked changes in Word, or find important obligations and deadlines across a collection of documents. With @MSFTCopilot Cowork, it can also bring together information from agreements, emails, meetings, and files to help a legal team make sense of a complex matter. That means less time spent pulling the pieces together and more time for the judgment, counsel, and problem-solving that clients count on.

The Council of Europe has been the guardian of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law across Europe since 1949. All of us @Microsoft are privileged to work with you to use AI to help advance this mission. Thanks for having me.
A milestone for our cooperation: the Council of Europe and @Microsoft have agreed to work more closely together to defend human rights in the age of AI. Technology is evolving faster than our democratic safeguards. Working with those shaping it is essential to ensure innovation serves people and our values. Thank you, @BradSmi, for your personal commitment to human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

October is my favorite month at @Microsoft. It’s when employees around the world come together to support the nonprofits and causes they care about most. What starts as personal acts of generosity adds up to extraordinary impact. Last year alone, Microsoft employees contributed $255.6 million, including the company match, volunteered more than 1 million hours, and supported more than 36,500 nonprofits worldwide.

Last night we opened a door unlike any other. At the heart of Microsoft’s campus, step into the new home of the @UW's Global Innovation Exchange (GIX) and you cross from @Microsoft into the University of Washington. No one has ever put a great research university and a leading technology company under the same roof quite like this. As far as I know, no one has even tried. The timing matters. Artificial intelligence is advancing fast. The question is whether the people building it understand the world it’s changing. This calls for a new style of education and leadership. We need leaders who understand the technology deeply and see things through other people’s eyes. Leaders who learn by collaborating on real projects with people from different countries and disciplines. That’s what @GIX_edu is built for. Students will learn from faculty across the UW, take classes taught by Microsoft employees, and be mentored by people from across our industry here in the Pacific Northwest. And it works both ways. Our first cohort of 30 senior technical leaders from Microsoft will spend their evenings here in a mini-MBA program, and our goal is three or four cohorts every year. This partnership will do great things for our two institutions, for our state, and as a role model beyond Washington. What we have today is strong. But what’s to come will be even greater. So many people made this possible. Thank you to UW President Robert J. Jones, who saw that this could matter even more in the future than it does today, and to academic leaders across the university. To the incredible Microsoft team for backing and building this from the very beginning. To Redmond Mayor Angela Birney and our state legislators. To Christine Gregoire, who helped find a path forward when we needed one, and to Sean Carr, who has nurtured GIX into what it is today.
