🚨California’s population climbed above 39.5 million in 2024, marking the 2nd year of growth
In addition to the report released by the Department of Finance, the U.S. Census Bureau (which measures on a fiscal year versus DOF’s calendar year) released updated information showing California’s population increasing as well — with several key revisions upwards:
⬆️ July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024, California’s population increased by more than 225,000 people.
⬆️ July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023: California’s population increased by more than 50,000 people. NOTE: This was revised up from the originally reported 75,000+ decrease.
⬆️ July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022: California’s population decreased by just 151 people. NOTE: This was revised up from the originally reported 100,000+ decrease.
BUSTING RIGHT-WING MYTHS
Despite the common myth of a continually declining population, California only saw a short period of population loss in its 174 year history — during the peak of the COVID pandemic — when it decreased by 379,544 people (which is about 1% decrease over those two years), according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
During the same period, from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022, 10 states saw larger population decreases, with Louisiana — led by a Republican legislature — seeing the largest percent decrease. And 13 states also saw population decreases from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

🚨 WATCH: Gavin Newsom says the flood of right-wing disinformation during the California wildfires made him realize he had to completely CHANGE his approach.
“They were controlling the narrative. They were dominating the narrative. The facts didn't matter. Narrative mattered.”
“I had to do something more smashmouth. I had to lean in. I had to take risks.”
“Clarity. Conviction. If we have a point of view, let's express it.”
Newsom on Prop 50: The politics had changed, which means we need to fundamentally change. And I think it was reflected in terms of those lines that were redrawn. But we also drew other lines—lines of consciousness across this country about so many of the previews of things to come…
Newsom: Just a week ago, he threatened to arrest me and other election officials just a week ago in California if we count all the votes, including 20,000 that he identified as votes that he says are “illegal.” So this guy’s not screwing around.
We can’t take the eye off the ball. Even after we crush it on November 3rd, we have to be vigilant because I could see some mishigash with Johnson, and I could see some assaults on truth, trust, and the rule of law that will make all the rest of this look like it was spring training.
Newsom: We’re seeing this tsunami but.. he will do anything to maintain his power.
Mike Johnson is, as you suggest, completely supine.
I ran out of the knee pads. We’re on the third printing of the knee pads to send to Johnson and his colleagues in Congress
And so we have to, right after this election’s done… have our legal teams focus on making sure that the folks that are congressional elects across this country all get actually sworn in the House of Representatives, and what I believe will be a majority in the Senate.
Newsom: They were licking the boots of Putin… calling him a humanitarian. “Thank you so much for taking someone off the streets, incarcerating them illegally, holding them hostage, and then using them as a bargaining chip so that we can continue to make more money”
The Lutnick family doubled their net worth in the last year. You’ve seen the $2.2 billion from Trump. You talk about Kushner. You talk about just the cronyism that we’re seeing now in the self-dealing with the family, Eric and Don Jr., the $6.3 billion they’ve received in federal contracts with their new startups in critical minerals and drones. I mean, it’s jaw-dropping, and this is what we know. I mean, just imagine what we don’t know. We heard about a $50 million bribe to get a pardon, just two days ago

Trump’s DOJ is unserious — making unserious claims and seeking fear-mongering headlines.
BREAKING:
The Trump Justice Department just sent letters to local election officials across California — every county in the state — demanding they identify potential noncitizens on their voter rolls and set aside their ballots.
Local officials would "risk significant federal scrutiny" if they failed to comply.

LA County RR/CC: We are operating within the framework of state and federal election laws. Voters can expect we will deliver to them a fair, accurate, and transparent election just like we always do

LA County RR/CC: There was no regard for the methodology that was used. No documentation that was provided. There was no verifiable information that was actionable for us under state or federal law with regard to voter registration.

Reporter: No thumb drive sent to you?
Orange County: NO
Reporter: And no thumb drive sent to Secretary Shirley Weber? Thumb drive only sent to you?
LA County: Correct. In fact, the list has still not been sent to the Secretary of State and it’s a statewide list.
Reporter: It would seem important for her to have that in order for a full compliance, so that’s an interesting note.

LA County RR/CC on why they did not plug in “unsecured media” they received from the Trump DOJ:
“I think it is interesting that the Federal Government is not interested in cyber security”
“This is the agency that is talking about integrity and security of the election yet they send us a thumb drive with a handwritten password on a post it note and asked us to use that without any context of how it was prepared or what was on that thumb drive”

Good to see Trump endorse mail in ballot voting in California, he may want to let his DOJ know he approves.
🚨 CALIFORNIA!
Early Voting, in-person, is UNDERWAY NOW in the Great State of California. If you have a mail-in ballot, return it immediately and, if not, GO VOTE at the Polls RIGHT NOW, and get everyone you know to VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICAN IN EVERY RACE, UP AND DOWN THE BALLOT!
Whether you VOTE early, absentee, by mail, or in-person, Republicans must SWAMP the Radical Left Dumocrats with massive turnout! In California, you can cast your early Vote, in-person, all the way through November 2nd. SO IMPORTANT — PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE. MAGA!

Why are you mad that California follows federal law?

"California being the Trump administration’s target should come as no surprise. Outgoing Gov. Gavin Newsom has been a constant critic of President Donald Trump. California is also the only Democrat-controlled state that successfully countered Trump’s mid-decade redistricting push...Clearly still salty about that matter, among others, the administration seems to have been cooking up a new way to attack California.”

The Trump DOJ gave LA County <21,000 names of non-citizens supposedly on the voter rolls.
❌Only 33% were actually from LA County
❌In a n=200 sample, >70% had no voting history
❌43% were no longer registered to vote

WOW. Really questionable tactics by Trump DOJ officials (again). Two obvious questions must now be asked:
1) Why didn’t the Trump DOJ provide the 20,000 list to the California Secretary of State in the first place?
2) Why didn’t the Trump DOJ provide the list to the other counties for cross-checking?
An LA County Registrar spokesperson tells me the federal government gave their office a physical copy of the 20k names of suspected non-citizens. (In addition to the thumb drive.) List includes name, date of birth, and address. The County had to sift through & determined 7k names within LA County. The rest are statewide.
