As we're following Pope Leo's cancer diagnosis, I'm also preparing to talk about his pre-papal life with @burkedaniel13 and @scottdetrow on the @21stShow.
Incidentally, I grew up blocks away from Leo's childhood home in Dolton, and stopped by the old neighborhood this weekend.

Emma Shafer was a friend. I wrote this after she was killed in 2023. Sharing it again to remind folks of what she stood for. In short, she was a friend + ally of immigrants and would've hated her death being exploited in a political stunt to demonize them.
