Looking for something to go to this weekend? Both the London Accordion Orchestra and Joyful Company of Singers are having their own events this weekend (23-25 Oct), both in London and beyond! And of course, they have their own British-German connections to celebrate and see…
Reminiscing on our event with @annettedittert and @tessaszy a few weeks ago! Thank you again to everyone who attended, both in-person and virtually.
If you’d like to watch the livestream, it’s available on our YouTube and found in our linktree (in bio)
Join us for an online discussion on 26 October from 6.30pm with Prof. Hakim Adi, Dr Noa K. Ha and Prof. Juergen Zimmerer. This is a joint event in conjunction with Women+ in German Studies (W+IGS) and the Association for German Studies in Great Britain and Ireland (AGS).
The discussion will explore how Britain and Germany are confronting their colonial pasts, where meaningful progress has been made, and what challenges remain.
Anyone can join, so if you are interested in attending just head to the sign up link below:

Oktoberfest is over, but in the spirit of our Oktoberfest Stammtisch last night - here’s a good phrase (other than Prost!) to know…
‘O’zapft is’ is called out just after the first keg has been tapped, typically by the Mayor or prominent figure.

Dear people of the UK, this Prize is for you!
In 1946, the British founded the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
80 years on, NRW says "Thank you", presenting its highest award, the State Prize, to the people of the UK, recognising the deep friendship between the state & the UK.

Last night we celebrated German Unity with Hamburg's First Mayor Tschentscher, @biztradegovuk's Lord Leong & guests.
🇩🇪 unification reminds us that freedom & democracy aren’t guaranteed. We must reject the increasing "people vs establishment" framing & double down on democracy.
Following on from Germany’s recent regional elections, we have organised an online event on Monday 5th October, 6:30pm, with the @IntASGP - open to all via the registration link in our linktree (in bio) and below:

A wonderful first in-person meeting and workshop in Oxford last Thursday! 🇬🇧🇩🇪
We brought together Oxfordshire-based people passionate about strengthening connections between Oxfordshire and Germany, and the wider British-German relationship.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us - particularly to our Oxfordshire Regional Rep Robin Hart, Dr Ed Turner of Aston University, and Colin Cook, Chief Technician at the Medical Sciences Teaching Centre, for their invaluable support and generous hosting.
What a wonderful evening of German hymn singing at St George’s German Lutheran Church last week!
We were delighted that BGA members could join this special event, organised by Philip Price and With Cheerful Voice.
It was a wonderful evening, made even more special by Prof. Henrike Lähnemann’s fascinating talk on German hymns and James Carpenter FRCO’s beautiful playing of the historic Walcker organ.
