白亜紀後期の南アメリカ大陸に生息していた獣脚亜目のカルカロドントサウルス科・カルカロドントサウルス亜科(ギガノトサウルス族)の恐竜。
属名は、アルゼンチンのリオネグロ州にあるヴィオランテ農場にて発見された事に因み「雄牛の狩人」を意味する。

白亜紀後期のアジア大陸地域に生息していた獣脚亜目・真手盗類のドロマエオサウルス科・ドロマエオサウルス亜科の恐竜。
アジア地域で最大のドロマエオサウルス科の属。
属名は、鉤爪のある後肢のアキレス腱の語源に因んで｢アキレウスの英雄｣の意味で名付けられました。

企画展で展示されていた、インディアナポリス子ども博物館を中心とした研究プロジェクト「ミッション・ジュラシック」で発掘された、アロサウルスの後肢と頭骨の実物大パネル。
頭骨のプレパレーション中に皮膚の痕跡が確認されたとのこと。

If I had a nickel for every paleontologist with a pachycephalosaur tattoo posing with a pachycephalosaur fossil, I’d have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
