Engraving from the 1800s of Luddites smashing a loom. Animated using Grok Ai.
The Luddites were a massive movement of people who destroyed looms because they were concerned that the technology would take jobs and disrupt society.
Companies should reward lawyers who do awesome and ethical things.
They should give no business to the lawyers and big law firms who grift and are predatory.
If you are a CEO or GC at a company send more business to people like Preston and send none to firms involved in evil.

British people are far too polite and therefore easily bullied by tyrants.
He should have said no, kicked her out and fought to the ends of the earth over it.
What you tolerate increases.
For those of you who thought the visit from a Bedford Borough Council official to investigate our daughter Zoe’s (age 12) pretend teddy bear cafe was too ridiculous to be real, here is the arrival of official. This is totally legit. She really did show up at our property to investigate the illegal teddy bears having their coffee🧸🧸☕️☕️
This guy should be allowed to raise rents as much as he wants.
And people should be allowed to make competing mobile home parks, to build, place & move mobile homes with almost no regulation.
Laws (aka violence & threats of the state) are not a solution to bad behavior that is a result of voluntary action.
The guy in the cowboy hat next to LeBron spends about $500,000 a year on courtside seats, and he pays for it with rent from retirees who can't take their homes and leave.
His name is James Goldstein. He's been to more than 5,000 NBA games, and he owns trailer parks in Southern California.
Here's the thing about trailer parks most people never think about. You own your home, but you rent the little patch of dirt it sits on. And "mobile" homes almost never move. The Supreme Court looked at this back in 1992 and noted that only about 1 in 100 ever gets moved once it's set down. Moving one can eat a huge chunk of what the house is even worth, and a lot of parks won't accept older homes anyway.
So if the landlord raises your lot rent, you can pay it, or you can walk away from a house you own outright.
That's basically the whole business model. It's why more than 100 cities and counties in California put rent control on mobile home parks, and it's why Goldstein has spent decades fighting them in court.
In 2006 he bought Colony Cove, a park for seniors in Carson, for about $23 million, most of it borrowed. The next year he asked the city to let him raise rent $618 a month per lot. The city said no. He's sued Carson at least eight times since, including a $78 million claim a state judge threw out. A federal jury gave him $3.3 million in 2016, and an appeals court took it back two years later.
In Palm Springs he tried something smarter. He moved to break his El Dorado park into individually owned lots, which can knock out local rent control and leave residents choosing between buying the ground under their own house or paying market rent. The city paid him $937,500 to settle, and the appeals ruling from that fight gave park owners all over California a legal path to do the same thing. It took a new state law in 2013 to let cities block those conversions when residents don't want them.
To give him his due, Goldstein argues rent control is unfair to owners, and when it comes to apartments a lot of economists would back him up. Trailer parks are where that argument gets a lot harder to make, because leaving means hauling your house down the freeway.
Now do the math on that 2007 raise. $618 a month comes out to about $7,400 a year per lot. The raise on roughly 67 lots would pay for an entire season of his courtside seats.
Because literally anyone who puts their finger on the trigger when not intending to fire shows themselves to be untrained and dangerous. It’s extremely basic and anyone with 5 hours of training should know this.
So no she’s not the “only” one getting “abuse” over this. There’s 1000s of examples online of people being called out for bad handling of firearms. It’s common but shows sloppy technique. Bad behavior around safety must be called out. Even more so when the person who has bad safety is presented as an authority.
Your post seems to be claiming that if a firearm has a “safety inhibitor” that it somehow makes it okay to place your finger on the trigger when you don’t intend to fire. This is completely false. You NEVER place your finger on the trigger unless you intend to pull the trigger and the firearm is pointed in a safe direction.
It’s never okay to pose like this or mosey around with your finger on the trigger - even if there’s a chamber blocker or if the gun is unloaded.
Actual proficient users not only know this but have trigger discipline ingrained as muscle memory and never do this - let alone in a photo. This photo shows she has no awareness and very poor training.
Don’t try to cover for sloppy behavior and unsafe practices / low training. That’s how accidents happen.

Mind blowing
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.

Exactly.
We don’t see many “world wide web” venture funds these days do we?
There's lots of discussion about a16z dropping the word 'crypto'.
It's actually a sign of crypto winning. It's outgrown being a standalone sector and now runs through global finance and frontier tech: payments, trading, tokenization, AiFi, and much more.
We've spent more than a decade building this industry to make it useful everywhere, and we should welcome it escaping its own category. People used to say 'internet companies' - which is a prehistoric phrase now. Eventually, calling something a 'crypto company' should feel just as redundant.
Many of us (including me) will keep the word. But the millions, and soon billions, using it every day won't care what we call it.
They'll care what it lets them do.
Seems crazy to trust bots with all your logins — or any for that matter.
People born in the darkness of crypto are very various about these sorts of things.
Maybe we will see a rise in siloed identity / separate persona which is walled off and used only for certain tasks.
Meet space will become a distinct world like Ready Player One or Snow Crash
Playing James Bond would be a fun job.
Especially these days since it’s so common for actors to get martial arts and tactical firearms training.
I hope they reverse course and go back to Bond’s roots. In the original books and movies Bond’s womanizing was a *flaw* and a weakness of Bond. It got him into trouble. But in an effort to be politically correct they’ve eliminated that character trait.
Daniel Craig is partly to blame. In order to distance himself from a fictional character he went on hundreds of interviews and complained about Bond being misogynist.
This would be like Lena Headey complaining that Cersei was too conniving.
Great characters are flawed.
The four finalists for James Bond are:
• Callum Turner
• Josh O’Connor
• Jack Lowden
• Mystery Actor
Final screen tests are set to take place next week.

Unforgettable scene!
And ahead of its time. In 1995 for most people this was the most amazing gun fight anyone had ever seen.
The movie also had strong story - including the background of this scene - that it was all or nothing for these guys, plan fails- come out shooting.
