People have normalized being rude in this game and then acting like it’s just “mild criticism.” “Y sell” isn’t feedback. It’s an emotional reaction meant to get a reaction. It gives the other person zero information they can use and lets the person saying it dump responsibility. “I’m not good either that’s why I don’t choose Spidey” is just passive-aggressive. “Pick another character FS” reads like ego. And the match chat version (“how you gonna pick one of the hardest characters practice that shit in quick”) is an invitation for the rest of the lobby to even the enemy team to dogpile. None of that helps the player or the match. If someone talked to you like that in person you wouldn’t be expected to just take it. The only reason it flies is anonymity and a community that already treats this style of talk as normal. Small interactions like these are how the broader toxicity stays fed. Autism is a personal factor. How you choose to communicate is still your responsibility. Nobody responds well to being talked to like that, spectrum or not. You can ask for a swap without the rest of it. And it’s something I have a close relationship with.
