I had an instant karma encounter the other night here in JAX as I went to work. Crossing the Buckman Bridge over the St. John's River, a street racer passed me and other motorists, one of which turned out to be a cop, who took off in pursuit.

Yes, the Henry Holland Buckman Bridge is named for the father (1858–1914), the Jacksonville legislator behind the Buckman Act and St. Johns improvements. The Henry H. Buckman Lock on the Cross Florida Barge Canal (near Palatka and Rodeheaver Boys Ranch, formerly Rainbow Ranch) honors the son (1886–1968). He began as a chemical engineer patenting zircon refractories, then became a consulting engineer specializing in rivers, harbors, and canalization.
