$Buffcat is to $Cashcat as $SHIB is to $DOGE.
Cashcat was the original rejected name. In 2021, Vlad Tenev himself confirmed it this. Robinhood was almost called Cash Cat. The founders thought it wasn’t powerful enough, so they went with Robinhood. That discarded origin story became pure meme fuel when Robinhood Chain launched in 2026. $CASHCAT exploded as the first real breakout on the chain after Vlad followed the account and publicly said the chain “works great for memes too.”
Buffcat is the continuation of that lore.
Where Cashcat is the nostalgia play, Buffcat is the final form. The jacked and successful version of the same cat. The unofficial mascot of Robinhood Chain. Cashcat was the name they threw away. Buffcat is what actually made it. Weak cat → buff cat. Rejection → domination. It’s a transformation story that writes itself, and people are already using Buffcat imagery to celebrate Robinhood itself.
Most memes die with the initial narrative. The ones that survive become culture.
• Doge was the joke. Shib became the army, the ecosystem, the identity.
• Cashcat is the origin story and the first liquidity event on Robinhood Chain.
• Buffcat is the long-term cultural vessel — the cat that represents the actual winner (Robinhood + retail) instead of the rejected name.
Robinhood Chain is still young. It needs a mascot that feels native, not borrowed. Buffcat sits at the perfect intersection of real company history, CEO-adjacent lore, and pure meme energy. It has clean tokenomics (no tax, community-driven), a clear visual identity, and a story that gets stronger the longer Robinhood Chain exists.
Cashcat captured the first wave of attention. Buffcat is positioned to own the culture that comes after. The communities that treat memes as temporary pumps get dumped. The ones that treat them as identity get multi-cycle longevity.
Buffcat isn’t going to be another flash-in-the-pan cat coin. It’s going to be the lasting face of Robinhood Chain memes. The one people still reference in two or three years when the chain is mature and the narrative has compounded.
