🧵 UHC needs to start somewhere. But starting with transit-priority streets is a mistake, overindexing the central, oldest areas in Denver. There's a greater density of transit-priority streets here, in part because of density and in part due to a past history of transit provided
With all due respect to the intelligent people who worked on UHC, this can't be the final proposal. Upzoning w/n a 1/4 mile of a transit area sounds reasonable... but look at the holes left out of neighborhoods and Council districts by 1/4 mile. These discrepencies are dumb!

Nuggets had 27 points in the first quarter. With 2:30 to play, the Nuggets have 28 points in the second half.

It’s absurd how much Aaron Gordon is asked to do for the Nuggets on both sides of the ball. He truly changes everything for them when he’s out there. Feels under-discussed that he hasn’t had a healthy playoff run in years.

Looking through OP's replies and found myself thinking "hot like piss🌱 is right," so there's lots of truth to be found in the world I guess
Replying to @StatisticUrban
People don’t move to Denver for strictly urban purposes; people move to Denver to be close to mountains and have city amenities lol

The discourseā„¢ļø comes for Denver
I don't want to be too harsh on Denver, a city I know very well, but I wouldn't wholeheartedly recommend it. It's not a bad city in the grand scheme of American cities. In fact, among the sprawling, car-dependent metros that dominate much of the country, it's one of the better ones. But it *is* mostly sprawl, public transit is very limited, and downtown is still relatively small and dead at night. Traffic is also a major problem. There are a lot of cities like this in the US, and Denver is one of the better ones, but it's objectively not great if you're looking for a real urban experience. And worse, because it is one of the better sprawly metros, with high incomes, housing is also very expensive. So if you want a nice place in the suburbs with plenty of sunshine, reasonably close to the mountains (though it's still a bit of a drive, they're not right next door), and relatively numerous white-collar job opportunities, it's a good choice. But don't expect anything like Chicago, Philly, DC, Boston, or even Seattle. It's much closer to a cross between Atlanta and Minneapolis.

My opinion, simply, is that while Denver continues to build more urban amenities/neighborhoods, and residents want an exciting world-class city to live in, a core premise of living here is great access to experiences outside, which isn’t replicable in many other American cities

For the urbanists who live here, then, there is an exciting list of projects moving in the right direction constantly, but those aren’t considered to be core promises of Denver lifestyle by the majority. That hampers their take up and polarizes the city over private car ownership

Its been 2 years since I last visited Denver, but I'd easily put it into the category of "most improved" cities in the US in the last 10 years Putting a video together about that this week

But, microblogging is also just . . . worse that sitting down and writing something significant that doesn't have a nuance killing character limit.

A Line hadn’t pulled away from the airport yet and it was already sardine-full! People were walking away rather than trying to cram in further. Needs 3-car trains and/or more frequent evening service, otherwise people get burned. On a Wednesday as well!!

Nice little run this morning in Philly, extraordinary how well used the Schuylkill River trail was around 11am on a Friday. Every $ spent improving and greening this infrastructure will be returned in spades I think!

On the one hand, the Front Range Passenger Rail District still has their old district map on their website. On the other, the district was redrawn through legislation this year that got a lot of coverage. It is pretty crazy that this happened any way you look at it.
Due to a lack of notification from the Front Range Passenger Rail District re: new district boundaries, 262,000+ voters in @ArapahoeCounty received ballots containing Issue 7A, when they should not have. Our latest statement regarding Ballot Measure 7A: bit.ly/4rUdizv
